My frustration with this offense is the idea of taking the ball to the whole and then seemingly not knowing what to do with it, so we throw a wild pass out to the perimeter that is sometimes successful sometimes goes to our opponents!

I would much rather we pull up and shoot a 12 foot jumper, especially when we rebound so well on the offensive end.
Bingo!

Very frustrating to let a game like that slip through the cracks. It was there for the taking. We win that game and I believe we have served notice throughout the MVC that we are rolling into St. Lou.

On the positive side - the defense was great, to shut down Bradley on the road while playing against both them and the refs was an almost insurmountable task. Both teams shot poorly, but the defenses had a LOT to do with that. Guys on both teams were taken off of their marks, bad footwork and bad positioning. Both teams also missed their share of wide open three’s. Deen, Leons, Hickman, Johnny, Luke and Mal normally do not all go cold on the same night.

I do believe that these past four games we have served a little notice throughout the MVC that we will scrap and claw and fight you. This current adaptation of the Redbirds IS capable of taking anyone out. Look at Northern Iowa crushing Drake last night. The middle of the MVC to the top is RIPE for upsets in St. Louis!

Things ARE looking up in Normal. Trust the process, but add some shooters for God Sakes! Finish with two wins and roll into the Lou at 10-10.

Go Birds!

Woulda, coulda, shoulda...didn't. We need to put the biscuit in the basket. So many opportunities to win this game, but the O was horrific the last 10 minutes of the game. Too many winnable games this season we let slip away. This was one of them.

The only time I lost my mind was when Kinziger drove under the basket and winged it back for a turnover. Bradley had a a three on none break and for some reason whipped it out for a missed three by hickman. They got the rebound and only Banks made it back to file Bradley on the put back. Did our guys just stand and watch that from the end other end of the court?

just one good shooter and a decent rebounder is all we need to add for next year though...assuming nobody of importance leaves

Watch Davis on that play. He is holding Duke Deen making sure he doesn't fall after he kicks it out instead of getting in position to rebound. Zero killer instinct. Go get a body on Leons so he doesn't get the put back. I guarantee Deen, Leons, Hickman etc. wouldn't be holding onto Davis to make sure he doesn't fall. Davis then arrived late to the play and got popped in the face.

Help is on the way - both HS commits are outstanding offensive players, 6'5 guard and 6'7 forward. Now, let's dig up that rebounder! Or two.
I hope that comes from your own perspective of them vs media. Pence seemed to be media hyped re his offensive ability and his transition remains work in progress

Exactly 45 years ago today!!
Halftime:
#6 Duke - 7
#4 UNC - 0
Or diarrhea gate 1988 when a Downward coached team had players subbing in and out all night for potty breaks. At Tulsa maybe?

We have nowhere to go if one or two guards aren't clicking. Really need Buford back for another option. JK had a rough day and so did Mal. Shoulda tried Pence? 🤷

Walker struggles against faster teams. Foster is The Man. Lewis is a good sidekick.

When it comes together were pretty good. If the shots don't fall we can hit Rock Bottom quickly. This actually fell in the middle considering we led a.bunch.

This team was declared dead by damn near all of us three weeks ago. I'm fine if they can win at least one of their final two regular season games and at least one in the Loo while playing as hard as they have been, I can live with that. For now.
I’m really pulling for at least 1 win in STL. It may not seem like a huge deal, but I don’t want to go into the Valley Tourney next year with that ‘storyline’ hanging over us of Pedon still searching for his first STL win.
Please get 1 this year, 2 if you’re feeling dangerous.

win on Wednesday and we are guaranteed to wear home unis on Thursday (top eight) in the 'Lou; that, and advancing to quarterfinal Friday, is progress from season one to two (no matter how erratic/sporadic it was)

anywhere from five to ten is in play

Based solely on their gaudy HS stats, both near 20ppg and 40% from three. Not sure what the media says about either.

Two of the last three wins were against very good team. The potential to do it again is still there. So why not?

Norris is the leading scorer in the history of his high school, which also produced his two older brothers. One is at Loyola for the 19th or 20th year and the other is at Wright State.

Daugherty was just named a top 3 player in Wisconsin. The two ranked above him are going to Nebraska and Duke.

For this season, the my expectations seem to be headed in the right direction. Year 1 establish the culture. Year 2- show improvement, be competitive in most games, finish middle of the pack. Year three is when the jump need to be made to be competing for the top of the league and winning multiple games in STL. The lows of this year were very, very low. They've shown they have the heart to dig themselves out of it. Looking forward to the last couple games of the season to see if the team continues to trend up and steal a couple in STL. If the season ended today, we'd play Evansville on Thursday, staring at Drake on Friday.
