Start the 3 Fresh. Move on!
I try to present whatever stance I have with facts and data on here so I’m not just coming off as bashing for the sake of it. Dalton Banks right now has an Ortg of 92.7 while playing 81% of the available minutes. For context, there’s only three other players in the entire conference with close to that many minutes and a rating of 93 or below. Our PG is one of the four worst offensive players in the entire league. Says about all it needs to on how things look the way they do right now.

Clearly we have to be more discerning when bringing in transfer portal players. We have a few that are marginal contributors at best.

We took 54 shots. 23 were 3s and many if not most were wide open. Pedon has said those are good shots BUT if you can’t make em they aren’t good shots. 5/23 ain’t gonna beat anyone. Kasubke isn’t giving us anything. His strength is supposed to be outside shooting but hell his shots aren’t even on line and have no chance to go in. Davis has to start the next game. He can make a few and isn’t a liability on defense. On the positive side Walker is a mountain of a man. Get him game experience and I think he’s really gonna help down the line. Our front line isn’t the problem as many have pointed out. Since we can’t shoot go big and hammer people. Note also Belmont took 51 shots but only 15 threes. Way better offensive scheme.
Always enjoy your comments Mr Brick.

I feel better about the rest of the season after this game than I did before this game.

I hope you are right, but I don’t really. Belmont Slept walked thru most of the game, played Drake before and Ind St next. Like SIU this game was there for the taking, but we are so bad shooting we couldn’t take advantage of it. After over half the season it’s safe to say we are a poor shooting team. We’ll have an occasional game we shoot it well, but overall yuck…

I don’t think that is even completely on Banks. Our guards as a whole have been terrible. Too much dribbling into trouble then taking a bad shot or making a weak pass. I figured Mal was going to be a sharpshooter and make a jump from last year. That hasn’t happened. I figured Luke would at least make some open 3s like last year and that hasn’t happened. Davis has been playing well. Johnny has been a lift at times and looked like a freshman others. Pence seems to be slowly coming around.

I will say that I am reenergized to watch this team going forward with Chase Walker replacing Lieb. I think that could potentially help us a lot. Walker can give us offense in the post and some passing ability when double teams show up. It will just take some time adjusting to playing in real games.

New officials in the second half? Game being called completely different.
It felt like we played differently in the 2nd half. I don't feel like we got the ball in a good position on the blocks. The officials did let them play the last 5-7 minutes. Do our guards know what a bounce pass is? It's so much easier to get the ball in the paint without someone poking it away on the bounce. The defender has to reach over top to get the ball- which results in a foul a lot more. I feel we spent more time dribbling in the 2nd half than looking into the paint. We went back to what hadn't worked.

He looked comfortable. We'll have some interior depth once Lieb returns. On a related note, Interior Depth is a great movie...at least the first 10 minutes are.

Really starting to question Pedon. Not saying I'm screaming for his job, but to completely throw away Chases redshirt over halfway through the season is ludicrous to me. Regardless of if chase wanted to play or not. We are not a good basketball team this year. Bringing a freshman in that hasn't played in any college games is not going to change that. And also, I've wondered the last several games why Davis hasn't gotten any playing time. When he does get on the floor he seems to perform. I'd love to transfer from Wisconsin to come to this shit storm and not get any playing time. Same old shit.. "its time to get our Swagger back" my ass.

Didn't really expect the game to be close, so it was a pleasant surprise that it became very winnable, even with Burf & Lieb out. Nice to see JD hit a few 3s and some decent minutes from Chase. But in the end, we let it slip away. Went into panic mode with about 7 mins left when we lost our 9 point lead. Started rushing possessions, turning the ball over and missing shots. Let them walk right back into it. I don't see how we win 12 at this point.

I could see us winning 4 of our next 5.

Valpo - winnable
Drake - loss
@MSU - seem to be falling apart
Belmont - played them tight at their place without our best scoring threat
@E-ville - winnable

I think IKO IKO by the Dixie Cups should be played at our home games. In time the entire arena would be singing along, similar to the Sweet Caroline fad. We need radical change and a new tradition! 🤣🤣🤣

I would have agreed in resounding fashion not too long ago. Fortunately, some insight on this board and others has sort of changed my mind regarding redshirting philosophies in general since the onset of the portal. It really has made Mid Majors even more of a quasi minor league. With all due respect to the development of student-athletes as human beings and best interests of their prospects, from a "CEO of a Program" standpoint, the brutal truth is that players have become commodities that coaches may have to waste long-term vision on immediate use of whatever is in a figurative tank of a dude that may look to "transfer up" when he reaches his more full potential.

Sucks, but Chase, without knowing anything about him personally, seems like the mold fit of a guy that can be a very attractive transer once he grows into that raw body and get swooped by a BIG10-ish thief.

Luke is just completely out of it with his shot. Hope we see Ty or others most of the rest of the way….
His shot reminds me of Bryant Allen back in the day - it has a sort of side spin to it. Both are/were very streaky; at the beginning of the season Luke drained a few in a row at one point in I forget which game.

But when you have an unconventional shot, when it’s off, it’s OFF.

This ⬆️

As long as he’s playing, burn away. In this day and age, I’d love to see someone stay 4-5 years, but that’s the exception rather than the norm.
