I think giving a breather was its sole purpose of him being inserted. Honestly not making any excuse but I can tel Mal be gassed.

Id like to hear Pedon's opinion on timeout management. Took too long to call one during the second half run. When Mayor McCheese was hurting late in the first half on offense why go 4 on 5? Great time for that use it or lose it
Pedon mentioned on WJBC after the game he was trying to be smart with timeouts and usage with guys knowing we were short handed and the minutes they played Wednesday night. He also mentioned at this stage in building the program we aren't as deep as what teams like SIU are.
None the less kids played hard, really hard. We had 4 kids play over 35 minutes or so last Wednesday and the effort that they gave couple with how SIU plays we just wore down.

Thanks. For me, that is one of my "new coach pet peeves" over the season. We often go to the bus with time outs in our duffel bags, and there were situations I felt we could have used one. I've felt the same about previous coaches too. I know there's a learning curve at his end, and not having Walter in his ear is part of game management issues. Its certainly not a positive. Looking forward to Benson's in depth reporting on the situation.

I think youve got good insight, Hulk. I haven't seen it as much lately...but Coach would call timeouts right before the media timeout, which occasionally you have to, but it seems to me you also just blew a timeout.

AND...we are TERRIBLE offensively directly out of timeouts, media or team. I mean terrible. Some of our worst offensive possessions have been oit of timeouts. Many of them, in fact. Because I'm not in huddle, I don't know if it's coaching or execution. At the MoSt game we FINALLY scored on a post-timeout possession and I looked at my game partner and shouted holy Hallelujah's. Now I'm getting frustrated.

On baseline inbounds NOBODY flashes directly to the basket. The great majority of our team looks east/west vs north/south...and dribbles the same way too. I understand you need a combo of both but we really don't have anyone who can EFFECTIVELY get into the paint from the perimeter.

Darius makes an attempt and while I love his athleticism...he's a bit skittish when he drives the paint. (BTW coaches
...how about setting up Darius for a backdoor lob every now and then?? The team and crowd needs those energy plays) Seneca gets into the paint, and does score sometimes...but like our ISU86 said...it's helter skelter and Seneca sees absolutely NOTHING around him in that process. Zero awareness. Yet in saying that he has had a good number of poor paint attempts go in the bucket so maybe i have no clue.

Yeah. Let's just stick with that. I have no clue

I'm blabbering all that yet I remind myself of Colton in the Belmont game...he went to the hole, got to FT line and scored 28, I think? I don't see him doing that against a Bradley defensive line, though...or anyone with a physical defense. Man we need Colton to heat up shooting-wise.

This is not good news and even if he is able to play I wouldn't have high expectations

If anyone is planning on going to the game, just know that crappy weather is coming in Wednesday into Thursday.
