I didn't realize. Back problems are death to an athlete. Hope he shakes it soon cause we need his in rhythm shooting, despite his rough stretch.
He's been battling them for a while. I believe back issues caused him to miss the trip to Cedarville for the Duquesne closed scrimmage.

for every game there is a result within 1 or 2 points of a spread, there'll be another game that is over by the half in terms of spread…

That's a valid point. BC +2.5 @ home lose by 22. GT +2.5 @ home lose by 11. But that makes you wonder too. With a free for all access to all these betting Apps, it would be very easy for games to be compromised. If shady business was happening in 1978 on pay phone, imagine what's going on now!? Mo St. is -2 against Indy St. today. Someone knows something. Maybe Indy St. has an injury or two? That's an interesting line.

I like how hard Sandage plays, but I don't see him making a difference. We're just bad
We’re bad in the sense of lacking in athletic ability but not heart. We’re bad because we can’t put together a 40 minute game but not because of free throw shooting. We’re bad because this is a completely new team but not because we don’t compete. We’re bad because we turn it over way too much but not because we don’t rebound. We’re bad because we don’t have a true pg but not because we don’t have shooters. We’re bad because we don’t have a true big but not because we don’t have a big to stretch the floor. So in other words as bad as we can look is equal to as good we can look but only in stretches of games. Another thing no one seem to talk about is too many minutes given to Mal at pg, but then again going forward it will definitely help him so it’s kinda needed. It’s called experience. I think Mal have played around 80 mi utes in the last two games. I don’t care who you are that’s tough on any pg let alone a brand new one at this level. All in all with a true pg and a true big this team will be good next year. As fans we just have to ride with it until then.

I want to see Petrakis succeed, but why is he being put in when we are on a 18-4 run? Why not ride with the players that had us rolling?

That was a great 17 minutes of basketball

Poindexter struggled with their pressure. Another no show for Lewis

Id like to hear Pedon's opinion on timeout management. Took too long to call one during the second half run. When Mayor McCheese was hurting late in the first half on offense why go 4 on 5? Great time for that use it or lose it

I was was surprised to see Stadelman play in the first half. Didn't seem to create a big gap, no noticeable drop off. I mean that as a compliment to Nik and not a knock on the others.

I was not a huge fan of him being entered in that situation, but he did a great job in the minutes he played. Solid defense, 2 rebounds, and like you said no noticeable drop off really. Plus it gave someone a breather. Props to Nik

I think giving a breather was its sole purpose of him being inserted. Honestly not making any excuse but I can tel Mal be gassed.

Southern is a deeper team that plays very physical and pressure defense. The margin for error was thin to begin with and Colton missing the trip didn't help.

We actually competed ok. We missed more FTs than usual but the biggest difference was they forced TOs and we didn't.

I would also add I dread any time Knight takes the ball into the paint. WAY more times than not drives too deep with a viable pass or shot option.

Hulka - great question on timeout management. I have wondered the same thing. You would think one of the media members would ask that question. It is a part of growing as a HC - but, Pedon has been very good at answering strategery questions when asked.

As far as the use it or lose it timeout - for whatever reason Pedon took that timeout early in the first half - like around the 10 minute mark and it was after a made 3.
