Gotta look at it again, but it seemed when the Birds inbounded the ball to Knight, Knight had a wide open lane to the bucket when Pedon called the timeout.

They did better than I expected, but it's still a loss.

I appreciate that we never gave up and how hard we fought to come back. Overall we had a solid second half, got some good looks that didn't fall but nothing to be upset with from my perspective. A win would have been great, and unexpected for most fans. Even though we lost, i can see improvement happening with this team.

My post right under the one you quoted indicate that. 💪. Really like him at the 1. He’s playing with composure. Not getting sped up.
As a team it’s been 8 games now. They’re not seeing the floor at all. It’s just too many driving into collapsed defense and never look to kick out. Birds are taking way too many congested shots in the paint way too many

Play like they did tonight and they are going to win their share of games. This team if they play like this, will be fun to watch. Good job

Nice to see the composure when they were down big early. Step in the right direction for sure. Need to see more of it Sunday against the Bruins.

Poindexter!!!!!
He need to be running off more screens. I’ve said on this board a while ago, it’s called shooting with energy. I have to believe there is more to come from this offense. Very little to no dribble drive and kick to our spot up shooters. Some good at catch and shoot some better shooting with energy. I thought the final play would be something for Mal again.

An encouraging loss, if there is such a thing. Wasnt expecting it to be very close. I'm echoing what most have said, but if they clean up the mistakes, the valley could be more entertaining than the past few games would seem to indicate.

Pedon stated the post game by saying, “I started with one sentence to the guys, “that’s our team.” He seemed very encouraged by the effort and I agree. That was the best effort of the season. Several unforced TOs. If those don’t happen, it’s probably a different game.

Pedon sent a message tonight. He’s got his top 8 and the other 7 guys are going to have to step up if they want an opportunity. Team is going to need depth if they plan on being in these close, late games. That 9th and 10th guy are going to be important.

I assume the Pub will be. Maybe Fiala brothers (@dpdoughbird06 can you confirm you will be?).
Hopefully my staff put it on if anyone requested. We have both ESPN+ and NBCSN (and maybe even CBSSN - we haven’t needed to check yet) and I try to stay ahead of what sports - especially Redbird-related) are on each day.

That "message" says a lot to me about the effort Kotov, Andrews, and Sissoko have been putting forth. We all wondered if it was Dan just not liking them or having faith in them. Kotov said this staff has shown more faith in him than the previous one . . . well, seems that faith has waned. My guess is they didn't see the floor under Dan because they didn't put in the effort, which is what Pedon is saying this year, too.

If that's the case, then they have to go before next year. Schmitt, on the other hand, just doesn't have the foot speed to keep up.

Maybe Kotov, Andrews, and Sissoko just aren’t good enough. I won’t kill a kid on here for effort when we have no idea. We’ve seen enough of Kotov and Andrews this year to understand they aren’t good.

Only if we stop committing so many turnovers, taking too many shots in traffic in the lane and have some dribble penetration and kick outs. We need to push the pace a lil more too.
We seem to get better shots when we push the ball with control. It appears that the staff is concerned we are going to turn the ball over or something because we are consistently slowing it down to run the half court set.

I agree with this. This isn't an effort thing, IMO. It's a they aren't good enough to crack the rotation thing. We have a large enough sample size to know this by now.
