If they keep up the Big East will eventually take them.

WSU is a public school, big east is only Catholic schools....and WSU is starting FB back up and already has a 38,000 stadium no in use.
Butler is not Catholic.

Sure, it was a good move for the Shockers based on the foreseeable future. As other have implied, If they ever fall out of the top tier of he AAC the travel costs for all of the teams (men's swimming, women's golf, and so forth) will begin to take a toll and fan interest will wane in Wichita. And, the Shockers will never make it into the Big 12, as long as the Big 12 is a Power Conference or anything like it is today. In addition to having no football, WSU is a fine university mind you, but it is certainly not a major university - there is no medical school, no law school, it is not a land grant school, and so forth, nor is it in any way sem-elite like TCU. The Big 12 has no interest in getting a school like WSU in its conference, and the two Kansas schools in particular would have a dim view of admitting WSU. So, WSU should enjoy themselves for the next several years - these are their good old days. Creighton, on the other hand, truly made a long-term step up and I wish them well.

How many times has Creighton made it to the Big Dance since moving to The Big East? Doesn't seem like that many, I could be wrong though. I wonder if some teams are having thoughts that the P5 dream isn't all it was cracked up to be. I look at the standings of those leagues and have to think that when your school is buried in the lower half of a 14 to 16 team league and your W-L record stinks that fan interest wanes. Especially among students. Attendance and ratings are down from what I read. If the NCAA ever cuts out the "little guy" altogether for the NCAA Tourney, I think the loss of the David vs Goliath element will also cause the loss of a lot of casual fans. And these days with our hyper-extended world, there are more of those than the diehards.

Creighton's made it 3 of 5 years since leaving the MVC, I think. They continue to draw well in Omaha, and the Big East is made up of Catholic universities in large metro areas (except Butler, which is not Catholic but is based in Indianapolis). In my view, that is a strong conference for Creighton.

With that said, your point is well taken regarding the growth of these super conferences and the downside to jumping ship. I like the size of the MVC, I like that it has a geographical identity, and I like the fact that every team plays each other home and away each year. I'd sure rather ISU be in the MVC than the Atlantic 10 which has teams in Ohio, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Missouri, and others. That is the conference, which more than any other, seems to chase down the "hot team", convinces them to join, and then has to convince fans in Saint Louis that they should get excited when Saint Bonaventure and Fordham come to town. Be careful what you wish for, it might come true!

While I think he is a good coach, the guy is always a world class a-hole. Now that he isn't a part of the Valley, I hope they lose every game they play.

Give me a break. I think he shoved a few of those players so hard they tipped over like sleeping cows. They should charge him with attempted murder.
