I can think of two ISU alums who might be a fit, who have been on Chicago (and St. Louis) radio for a while - Chris Rongey and Mark Grote. If Grote is still doing Bears broadcasts, he may be a long shot. I'm not a particularly big fan, but wouldn't Kurt Pegler be an easy fit? Maybe he wouldn't wanna give up the TV spots.

I have an idea of who is going to replace him, though I'm hoping a national search is conducted. I'm not sure how Learfield handles these situations. Luedke has read during every broadcast since the Learfield take over that "announcers are provided by Learfield and approved by Illinois State," though Dick and Matty were already in place with JBC.

I'm guessing someone local that we've heard before.

Danny Dunbar, who is general manager for Redbird Sports Properties-Learfield, said there already has been plenty of interest in succeeding Luedke. Dunbar said they are deciding what they want the position to be and expect to have a replacement named by summer.
