I've seen the kid up close a few times, he is not your traditional central African body type. He seems to have more weight to him than I expected. I am less interested in his current practice FG% and more interested in his current weight. If he is at 220-230, we are in pretty good shape.
From YT highlights, he also looks to be quite agile and capable of shooting mid range shots. I'm pretty excited about him.

Adunk33 you are tied in to the building more than anyone on here and you are noticeably absent on this. Looking at the current roster it would seem this kid needs to be a contributor next year. Any positive thoughts?

IMO, if he’s not equipped to spend some on the block this year, ala Hawkins, we need another big who can contribute right now.

I don't have any concrete information, but just personal opinion. It's tough to compare the two players but people on here seem to want to. Abdou is a much better player than David. They aren't anywhere close to the same player. Abdou can score the ball on multiple levels, while David was told to "dunk everything" because he missed a whole lot of layups in his time here. Abdou doesn't have the knack for shot blocking in the same way David did, but I do think he will be able to guard positions 3-5, where David could not. So, the two are very different players. Abdou is more mobile. As someone else mentioned, Abdou is thicker than David too. Don't get me wrong, he could still afford to put on some weight but I would guess he is around 200-205 now. He is a few inches shorter than David.

Obviously, this summer will play a huge factor in Abdou's role on the team. He could start, he could be the first or second guy off the bench. I'm sure it'll take some time for him to get his feet under him since he hasn't played competitive ball in over a year with an injury mixed in there.

As a reminder, this guy is not a traditional post forward. I suspect he will spend nearly all of his time at the 3. He is essentially a 6'10'' guard who CAN play the post, but whose best play comes from outside of it.

I would hope, with his length, he'd be able to get into rebounding position, but don''t expect him to be a back to the basket muscle down player.

One claiming he is a 6’10” guard that can also play post is a h#ll of an endorsement. He should easily be starting for the Redbirds and absolutely tearing up the MVC.

What little we saw of him in the R/W Scrimmage was encouraging. He brought the ball up the court it traffic with, for a big man, ease and passed it on target. Those events give you just a little taste, but I would expect Karl Malone to be worried about his legacy at this point

A 6’10” big man with guard-like handles? Players like this don’t end up the Valley, so excuse me for saying, “I’ll believe it when I see it “
Experience, given the hype on this board, leads me to believe this is either wishful thinking or we’ve become too accustomed to subpar guard play.

Have no fear. We have Fisher as Malone, Ndiaye is the next Antoine Carr, and whatever point guard we sign will be as good as John Stockton. We will have the '98 Jazz playing in Renovated Redbird Arena by November. Book it. #InDanWeTrust

He comes in as a freshman as 175 and then starts his soph year at 230. I don't think it works this way chief...not in basketball and not with his body type

How about an Al Horford comp for his open court handles? If he can block shots and hit shots like Al by his last couple of years we'll be waxing poetic about him to be sure.
