I'm pretty late on this reply Seemed to have a problem with my old password.

Anyway, I wanted to congratulate you go this signing. From all I've read and the video I've seen, I think you have a really good get in this young man. Hope you get 4 fantastic years out of him.

Best wishes

Can't believe this wasn't posted yet. Hold on to your butts. Dan says that Abdou isn't on campus yet as he works through eligibility issues but is "100 percent sure" he will be here by August. Oh boy.

Fairly common issues regarding NCAA 'hurdles.' I wouldn't freak...yet.

Regarding AN. I believe what could happen is the young man comes to school on scholarship but is not
eligible until next year. Just reading between the lines, rumor and Muller's comments. I'll bet it's a longshot
at him being eligible this fall. Now if he doesn't qualify for a scholly - then what, u put him in a Prep School and probably
lose him as the Big Boys will be all over that. Loyalty has an expiration date.

The good news on that front would be that Bruninga should get a lot of minutes at the wing 4. He needs all
the minutes he can get this year and bring the shooting.

No matter - it's all Good. Muller doing a great job at getting kids to central Illinois.

Muller is expressing confidence in this player being enrolled and on campus in a way he never did with Mikyle and Deontae when they were being vetted by the NCAA. There are parallels between Abdou's situation and Mikyle's in that they both attended a few prep schools, one of which was highly questioned by the NCAA. In Mikyle's situation it was the Christian Faith Academy or something like that. For Abdou, it's this "The Masters School in Westchester, N.Y." Keep in mind, being enrolled and on scholarship does not mean eligible.

Worst case scenario, Abdou is a NQ, which leads to a RS first season where as long as he takes care of business in the classroom, he can earn the year back, which McIntosh and Hawkins used to transfer. I think a RS year would be helpful for him. He is less of a project than David but still has a lot of raw talent that could be developed within the first season. Plus, there will be a lot more minutes available in 19-20 than in 18-19.

I'm not going to freak out or anything but this kid bounced around and one of his schools shut down. I said it May 2nd and I'll say it again. To get through all of that with his core 16 and sum score is a pretty big accomplishment. It can be a very big hurdle. I hope his transcripts show his academic rigor meets core 16 criteria. D1 core permits taking 1 additional core class after graduation before entering college to meet the core 16. That would be a pretty good reason for not being in Normal yet.

Absolutely. And they anticipated it with MiKyle. He was ruled ineligable in October. Hopefully it works out this time.

I think The Masters School in Westchester is a completely credible school. They have a $50M endowment and have been open since 1877. Check out the list of alumni which includes the head of the NBPA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masters_School

The issue is with whatever school he attended between The Master School and The Nation that shut down. I hope that The Nation is not also in question as we have a couple more promising scholarship offers out there to his former teammates.

Yes. That was my point of moving it here. This has nothing to do with Duhon.

Don't know. It wasn't really talked about when we signed him.

As a Freshman looking to contribute right away he's also missing valuable scrimmage time this summer.

Thank you. I didn't remember which school caused him to transfer to The Nation mid-season. Thanks for the correction. I also believe The Nation is still relatively new to the prep school game. Could be something important to track.

Not only do we have two scholarship offers out to other players from The Nation, The Nation has added two new pieces. One of them a 7 foot kid and the other a 6'7 kid. I believe both are African. I'm sure Dan is well aware of them too.

You beat me to the comment on Masters School. My ex-wife went to Masters School. It's top notch. Her classmate was Henry Kissinger's daughter. Used to be girls only.

There was something mightily wrong with the CGM Prep Academy. Kid was only there a semester so they couldn't have screwed him too badly. The only reason I can think of for not being in Normal is he's taking the one class the NCAA allows after graduation.

These "athlete-first" high schools have GOT to go, man. I know we get lots of our players from them, but it always ends up that SOMETHING is shady with them.

That said, I had no intention of Abdou being a main guy this year. I think he is probably our centerpiece moving forward into 2019/20 and beyond. He and Rey might be able to control the Valley if HCDM can go find a couple 3 star guards to match up with them. So if he needs to sit this year (and can do so without losing a year or eligibility), I'm all for it. I think he's just be taking time from Bruninga and I personally think that kid is quietly going to be a 12 point, 7 rebound guy this year.

Dedric Boyd is really good. We will have another year of Copeland and Clarance. Of course, I will always welcome more talent!

I like Taylor A LOT. I think he and Chastain will surprise a lot of people. My brother-in-law from LeRoy keeps asking me if Chastain is going to get PT because 10+ families he knows from LeRoy want to buy season tickets.
