On campus and enrolled does not mean eligible to play. Sounds like carefully selected words. My expectations from that would be that he will be a student this year and then a basketball player next year. Just reading between the lines.

That said, I had no intention of Abdou being a main guy this year. I think he is probably our centerpiece moving forward into 2019/20 and beyond. He and Rey might be able to control the Valley if HCDM can go find a couple 3 star guards to match up with them. So if he needs to sit this year (and can do so without losing a year or eligibility), I'm all for it. I think he's just be taking time from Bruninga and I personally think that kid is quietly going to be a 12 point, 7 rebound guy this year.
Dedric Boyd is really good. We will have another year of Copeland and Clarance. Of course, I will always welcome more talent!
I like Taylor A LOT. I think he and Chastain will surprise a lot of people. My brother-in-law from LeRoy keeps asking me if Chastain is going to get PT because 10+ families he knows from LeRoy want to buy season tickets.

That statement is comical....the shady stuff with most of the players at these "athlete-first" schools started way before they ended up there. Certainly there are some shenanigans but often those schools are trying to academically rehabilitate damaged (behind academically/behavior problems/tough to coach...etc) goods.
ISU has to target these players that have talent but have challenges too as the talented combined with no problem players are going to the major basketball conferences. ISU needs to figure how to get out of the MVC if you want them to compete nationally recruiting while only selecting low risk players Otherwise it is not happening for ISU. Example...look at the current ISU roster....Milik/Copeland/etc.

Check out the movie Amateur on Netflix. It covers recruitment and these type of schools pretty well. It's not a documentary but I feel it accurately covers at least 70% of these athlete-first schools.

This is the "prep" school that Mikyle and Kaza went to. There was a documentary on it, but it has been removed from its original source.

No one has ever been disappointed when their expectations are low.
