MiKyle was out for our worst loss at Wichita. Committee didn’t care - especially after they destroyed us on Sunday. Losing to Drake a third time - by 30, no less - killed our chances in 2008, as well.

Drake and Trees need to play a close game today. No blowouts to give any additional reason to exclude either one of them.

We failed the eye test in both of these losses. Plus, if I recall, we picked up some sophomoric and embarrassing Ts late in the Wichita St game. We made it easy for the committee to pass on us in both instances.

Hoping for a close, competitive game today. I would not want to be the loser of today's championship game for the next week. yes, I could see them leaving the Trees out, even with their NET. They look for ways to exclude Valley teams and the losses to us and siu give them that opportunity. I really hate the ncaa.

I hate it, but you look at the last 4 in and first 4 out they're running across the screen now, and you can already see the Iowas and Oklahomas and Villanovas and Pittsburghs of the world elbowing Drake/InSU out of the way.

It’s hard for me to argue this not being a successful season with better players and more wins. Even if the Birds finish with a losing record thy won more.
I go back and forth as respects to if this has been a successful season. If one analyzes it from progress compared to last year’s awful season metrics then possible yes. If one purely analyzes it from where we ended up this season in non-conference play and overall MVC results then I would absolutely say no.

We had a 7 game stretch or so - at the right time - where we looked like a different program and had finally turned the corner. I thought we did. The Arena was festive, coaching looked different, our strategy on both sides of the ball looked different, the ball moved surprisingly well and effective, particularly north-south, and hek we even ran a drawn-up out of bounds that converted not only into a bucket, but a game-winner. Peanut butter to my jelly.

Then the last 2 games - our finals week to see where we really stood - we regressed into the team we were for the previous 60 games. We lost to an 18-game losing streak. Eeeeeeeegads.

Improved, yeah we did somewhat. Until we get over the mental hump of Thursday, nope not a chance. I will tell ya I had a lot more fun in the arena this year, though.

I guess I look at this season if one cannot say definitively it is an improvement then it becomes pretty much a wash. ISU red still a major disappointment. At the beginning of the season we all were probably hopeful but I don’t think now we are that surprised we ended up pretty much flat with last year.

I had business in Wichita that basketball season and was there for a stretch. So...I inserted both middle fingers into the air and marched into Koch Arena karate-kicking anyone who got in my way. And that was just buying a ticket.

It wasn't a big game. I think Indiana State. But the Arena was sold out and the environment was as intense as any building I've been to in the last 25 yrs. Purdue is the loudest start to finish that I've attended in that span, but Wichita was right there. The crowd engagement and tradition, I hate to say it, was marvelous. They had 10 different chants ready for any happenstance. It's as good as I've ever seen. It was intense, mean, angry...yet fun.

I knew...KNEW...with one of our key starters out...we had no chance. Even with a full crew, it would have taken our very best game, in 30 years, to win in that environment. That game in Wichita was over in 5 minutes. We were so mentally overmatched it was embarrassing. Even over the radio you could feel the tension of the crowd. Luedke remarked...the intensity of the arena was in the top few games of visiting arenas in which he had ever taken part.

In a land far far away, we used to have those kinds of crowds. I think about this while slowly my guitar gently weeps.

How are Wichita’s crowds nowadays, post-Gregg Marshall and with them now a middling AAC team?

So, once again the valley is second banana to the big boys. Get rid of this atrocious cbs contract, move the arch back a week and get the championship game on a network that will put the valley first

Ridiculous agreement with cbs. But “oh we get watched by a national audience”, well not if they don’t care to carry the beginning or ending of the valley championship. Twenty minutes in and no valley game!

And, another seven minutes of interviews, trophy presentation and ads. One fourth of valley championship played before cbs tunes in. Get rid of the cbs contract, they don’t care about the valley.

They waited awhile to start the game. I’d rather miss a couple minutes and be on CBS with Kevin Harlan on the call, versus a Monday night on Espn2.

Over five minutes of the game was played before tv coverage. Doesn’t do anything to be on cbs if you are not going to be on cbs. The power 2 are going to control cbs in the future. Get on a network where at least valley fans can actually watch the game.

Okay, it was more than a couple but it was not over 5.
What if the CBS contract is the biggest contract money wise?

Indiana State is getting Indiana Stated.

I already thought if they took any loss they would be left out, but if they take a blowout to the dome then it isn't even a difficult discussion to omit them.
