Over five minutes of the game was played before tv coverage. Doesn’t do anything to be on cbs if you are not going to be on cbs. The power 2 are going to control cbs in the future. Get on a network where at least valley fans can actually watch the game.
Yesterday I read that over the last week the highest rated Basketball viewership was not an nba game nor men’s ncaa game. Rather it was an Iowa girls hoop game. Traditional Power 2 forces had no impact as it was driven by the power of viewership.

And, another seven minutes of interviews, trophy presentation and ads. One fourth of valley championship played before cbs tunes in. Get rid of the cbs contract, they don’t care about the valley.
Far less viewers care about the valley than Clark/iowa girls hoops right now. That fact drives the train.

Understand that, so go get a guaranteed contract that whatever network you contract with guarantees that the entire game will be broadcast.

The next game doesn’t til off til 4 PM. We couldn’t set a 1:30 PM tip-off and dare CBS to cut away from our final for the start of a B1G game? I guess we could, but then CBS probably would cut us off at the end if we ran long…

Indiana State should be in. Drake is in. Bradley should be in the NIT. Belmont too tbh but I don't see that happening.

Nothing like hearing all of the spin talk that is not even NET but Quad 1. And these Quads are based on what? NET!

The new normal. It is almost about Quad 1 volume, not even wins.

Indiana State should get in. Time will tell.

We're better than the MAC??
lol….but jokes aside when it comes to negotiating tv rights contracts and terms the Mac also has football to leverage with its media negotiations. MVC is in a weaker position than even the MAC while negotiating with the media companies.

From a business perspective ISU’s bifurcated conference arrangement drives me bonkers. I get how that could have been a short term solution to an immediate problem or need but to have the two main revenue sports split for decades leaves ISU Athletics needlessly in weak revenue maximizing position, IMO. Proof…every Mac member brings in more in annual media/licensing rights than Isu. I believe the range is from around +$900,000 a year (NIU) to as much as +2.6 million a year (I think it was Akron but not certain) in additional annual media/licensing rights revenue.

This same scenario happened on ESPN when the title game was played on Monday.

The only true Quad 1 win is strolling the ISU campus on a beautiful day.

Caitlyn Clark owns the narrative right now. As well she should. She’s one helluva basketball player.

So you wanna know the real kicker? CBS doesn’t own the rights to the Valley Championship game. ESPN does, but they lease the rights to CBS. It has been that way for years. And I’m reasonably certain the terms were quite favorable for the MVC at the time they were negotiated.

And the thing about contracts is they’re usually pretty hard to get out of. And then you have to make sure you can find another one at least as beneficial. If you think it’s easy to swap and change contracts, then get after it.
