With the experience on the roster, this is very reasonable!Lost 7 games by 4 points or less. Think a 18-14 over record and a 500 + Conference record should be a reasonable goal.

I'm all for criticism when we see the final product. Blasting four games of a 9-10 game nonconference schedule is pure silliness, especially when this staff had zero to do with Chicago State. Who was in charge when that ridiculous contract was made? I guess I can't blame Muller for that though.Um, again, I immediately sang the praises of the recruiting efforts, while, on a message board offered suggestions of possibilities to heighten the appeal of a schedule. What' are your hard-ons with some constructive criticism dudes?
If you think this non-con is acceptable, keep chugging the Kool-Aid, blaming Muller and open-mouth breath how great things are. I'm all-in and want to se a$$es in seats @ CEFCU Arena and create the same road buzz we had in the mid '90s.
Just not in the regular season.I’ll be pissed if we don’t get Lewis or Quincy!
I don't think using the term "mediocre" translates as "blasting" rather an opportunity to discuss rounding out the remainder.I'm all for criticism when we see the final product. Back to the thread.
I'll be ticked if we don't get them both.I’ll be pissed if we don’t get Lewis or Quincy!
I think the problem with the term “mediocre“ is that its definition no longer represents what people think of when they hear the term nor how the term is used. Mediocre is used derogatorily now. It’s the whole “good is the enemy of the best” shtick, which IMO is a stupid way to look at life, but whatever. So the connotation of the word “mediocre” now means that it’s bad, which isn’t necessarily what was meant.I don't think using the term "mediocre" translates as "blasting" rather an opportunity to discuss rounding out the remainder.
CRITICISM: the act or art of analyzing and evaluating or judging the quality (my desire for a more tasty schedule)
RIDICULE: speech or action intended to cause contemptuous laughter at a person or thing; derision (your backhanded Muller derision)
It's a message board, bro. Just like talking about conference expansion, potential recruits, or scheduling options, it's a fun forum to share opinions that will likely fall on deaf ears of those that actually will end up making the decisions being discussed.
I guess I'l wait until the final skid is posted and wait until we see. You got me thinking glass-half-full, Matt. Go You Redbirds!

Mediocre is often used to define anything that is less than excellent as being catastrophic. And sometimes it’s used to say something is awful. But its literal meaning is that something is average. People said Muller’s last few seasons were mediocre. Well, no, they weren’t mediocre. They were worse. He might still be here if those seasons had been mediocre.
Why not add a road trip to Macomb as well...just trying to bring some levity to the discussion.I'll be ticked if we don't get them both.

Much like Chris Collins not being a sock-in-shoe, Dan was behind the 8 ball trying to be hand-in-glove. Add to that the whole plane crash (a lot of people on here neglect the significance of the loss of the 7) D-I coaching is WAY more CEO than X&O or letter jackets these days. Other than the undisclosed elephant in the room of one assistant coach, and dismissed/retired Presidents and Athletic Directors, and questionable donors... I gotta tip my cap to Coach Pedon. Keeping/developing a program and reigning in more talent.Spot on.
Dan's last three seasons (10, 7 and 13 wins), coupled with the pandemic, looked and felt twice as bad. Those years seemed to worsen the previous seven, which, with win totals of 18, 18, 22, 18, 28, 18 and 17 - with multiple postseasons and knocking on the Dance's door a few times, were far from bad. Each season had some bad losses and underwhelming performances which garnered the mediocre generality. Overall we were just good enough not to suck - aka College Hoops Hell. But it really was the last three seasons that got us on the road toward Shitsville.
But whatever, that's the past.
There's legit optimism for this season, which feels pretty refreshing.
Nobody is minimizing the loss of the 7. The fact that people are still using it as an excuse for Dan in 2023 is pathetic. Dan was only ever as good as his assistants. Once he lost Fire, Yaklich, Oliver, and Ward (RIP) there was no redeeming. He replaced all of those high class and solid recruiters with Brian Penny and Chris Duhon. He stopped hiring hungry guys.Much like Chris Collins not being a sock-in-shoe, Dan was behind the 8 ball trying to be hand-in-glove. If he was a true coach then why couldn’t he do it after those guys left? Did he lose the ability to recognize talent? He sure as shit wasn’t recruiting himself…Um, you kinda put your foot in your mouth. "Only as good as his assistants" - maybe that was the best recruiting the greatest defender and Bone Scholar did - recognizing and promoting talent - a TRUE coach even at his own expense.
What does Muller have to do with the 23-24 schedule? Funny how no one mentioned Muller in this thread until you. Your shtick is getting old.Um, again, I immediately sang the praises of the recruiting efforts, while, on a message board offered suggestions of possibilities to heighten the appeal of a schedule.
