2023-24 Non-Conference Schedule

I believe we will have a game at Chicago St. That is the last of the 4 game Home and Home contract that was signed. I would also anticipate a home game with Eastern Illinois. That had to be a Home and home ... I doubt EIU bought us this year

Might be forgetting one, but so far it looks like we have:

EIU
Chicago St.
N. Kentucky
Miami-OH
NDSU

Are we returning the game to SIUE? If so that leaves us what, 4 games left?

We bought SIUE

Meh. Pretty mediocre. Pedon & crew have been absolutely crushing it on the recruiting and portal level. I am blown away by the efforts in such a positive way.

Considering we seem to have some nice in-roads with Wisconsin talent, I thought maybe we could get a UWGB or Milwaukee H&H. Obviously Wisky or Marquette would be pie-in-the-sky hopes for a one & done (although would be very reminiscent of the Midnight Cincy game w/Stallinga or the Louisville game w/Dan).

Why the SIU-E buyout? Shouldn't St. Louis area be one of our primary targets (hello SLU)?

And how 'bout resurrecting the DePaul rivalry, or even create a new one with Loyola rather than Chicago friggin' "state."

Would Dayton or Butler return a phone call? Fallback: Cleveland State.

Maybe expand our midwest recruiting footprint to gain some exposure in Michigan and get a date with Oakland or Detroit (Mercy)

I get N. KY. Eastern seems to be kind of an auto book. Miami Ohio I like. ND State - other than the MVFC ties, which I get, that's a long trip for little reward. Their southern neighbors have more hoops red. Or throw a log on the fire and try a 1-and-done @ Creighton or Wichita and reminisce.

We have less than half the noncon schedule at this point. I refuse to complain about the schedule until it's done. Can't blame Pedon for the ridiculousness that is a four-year deal with Chicago State.
This. No reason to judge non-conference schedule until finalized. Then we can all bitch and moan at that point

I’ll wait to fully judge the schedule. I sure hope the last few are a little more eye catching though.

I think this is the perfect team to schedule some P6 buy games. Fingers crossed.

Those teams are a combined 70 w. 92 L last season. All with losing records except NK

And what has ISU’s record been over the last couple years? It takes two to tango and who wants to schedule ISU? My educated guess Pedon will get the best schedule possible. That may not make a lot of you happy, but we need to be realistic with what kind of appeal ISU brings to their schedule.

I wasn't "bitching or moaning" actually providing constructive suggestions.
"Meh. Pretty mediocre." doesn't exactly sound like plaudits.

I would like to see a competitive MTE and possibly a "bought" game on the road, but at this point I prefer we show the capability of consistently getting W's (however coach thinks that would happen). I like where Pedon has the program headed, but 11-21 (6-14) is a long-road to travel.

Lost 7 games by 4 points or less. Think a 18-14 over record and a 500 + Conference record should be a reasonable goal.

Um, again, I immediately sang the praises of the recruiting efforts, while, on a message board offered suggestions of possibilities to heighten the appeal of a schedule. What' are your hard-ons with some constructive criticism dudes?

If you think this non-con is acceptable, keep chugging the Kool-Aid, blaming Muller and open-mouth breath how great things are. I'm all-in and want to se a$$es in seats @ CEFCU Arena and create the same road buzz we had in the mid '90s.
