VirginiaRB .. you mentioned Northwestern win. Yes, it was an upset. But physically, we were just as big everywhere except maybe on DL. That won't be case by 15-20 lbs across entire 2 deep against STX.

But they will be talented at playmaker positions .. just smaller across the board.

I agree with you 100%. It's one thing to be outmatched in talent, and yet another to be outmatched in the physical department. It could easily lead to some injuries on their side. Imagine you're a 250 pound DL, and you're doing your best to stand up to a 6'10 315 lb Drew Himmelman, and you can barely stick out an arm to try and stop 225 Robinson ( or Markel) running at you like a freight train. I worry it will be more of a physical beating than a game, and no disrespect to STX. Their players aren't probably on scholarship, just a bunch of dedicated young men that love to play. To me though, this game does no good for anybody.

But of course, I'll be there!

NAIA (St. Xavier) has a limit of 24 scholarships. NCAA Division II has a limit of 36. FCS (Illinois State) has a limit of 63. FBS has a limit of 85.

So a good number of their players will be receiving partial scholarships for football. But the scholarship gap between them and us is larger than between us and FBS.

thanks for lower level info ISUBU.

One other note, i am pretty sure FBS can NOT split up their schollies .. must be 85 full schollies. Whereas, all other levels can do partials to attract more kids. My understanding is Spack recently likes to offer 3/4 schollies to most kids (basically tuition & fees only), which mathematically can get him from 63 full schollies to 84 partial schollies. Going to guess some of the studs have full and some have just half (or less) .. but Redbird schollies are now mostly 3/4 ... I think.

This is right on 4th. Very few full rides. Tuition is the big thing for a out of state kids and kids can get very creative when it comes to living arrangements. Oh and most importantly, no ones going hungry. ;)

Also, Brock said one of their recent recruits earned an academic scholarship, so that freed up football money for somebody else. So recruiting smart kids is a double bonus.

Yes I can see 100 points put on the board for this STX one. Based on what I saw from St X, Any play, offense, defense, special teams by our First, Second or Third teams from anywhere on the field is a potential score.

I am more interested in seeing how the Defense plays against the Colorado St offense............

I hope team planning this week was for the Eastern game...........
