On the broadcast they said Feb 2016 vs Wichita
how about last ranked win on the road? I tried looking looking through their schedules year-by-year but stopped when I got to the 1980’s. could have missed one though

edit: yes, I missed at Creighton in 2013

At Dayton 2012 in Muller’s first year, if I recall.
We did beat them in both 2012 and 2013, but it was the home game where they were ranked (#25).

Our last was from that 12-13 season though, we knocked off Creighton in Omaha (Feb. 9, 2013). So we’re almost 13 years to the day.

Before that, harken back to Tulsa in the 84-85 season.

Early in the thread I said this was the proverbial snowballs chance in Hell game. Then another cliche happens, “that’s why they play the games”. Am thrilled don’t know what else to say. I thought we had zero chance to win this game. I guess that’s why sports are fun, there is no script….

I am trying to remember the last freshman to have a 30 point game. Jarrod Coleman maybe? I remember donewald saying, he is a freshman and will probably struggle next game. And he did.
Technically Emon Washington (30) against Greenville in 2020. Before that? Bubbles Hawkins in 1973 with 30 as well against Jacksonville. 30 was previously tied for 3rd, so I am not sure when the last time a freshman scored 31.

Pedon had a great quote postgame that was something like “I’ve had freshman go for 31 before, but never had one go for 31 missing only two shots”.

Even if people have scored 30, guessing it was likely on volume shooting to some degree.

Johnny. Total stud.

Agree with the sentiment but Emon was 12-13 (against an NAIA). Love Johnny Kinziger.
  • Emon Washington's 30 points are the most in a game by a freshman since Bubbles Hawkins also scored 30 against Jacksonville on Feb. 16, 1973, and is tied for the third-most in a game by a freshman in program history. His 12-of-13 shooting night is a new school record for a freshman.

Obviously the match up zone kept the Trees offense off balance. However, more impressive was holding them to only 12 free throws.

Huge credit to Coach Pedon. This is the signature win he has been searching for. Biggest win for the program since the 2017 season (I know the last ranked win was 2016). Let's build off of it and end the season trending up! It's too bad there was not more press coverage/interviews of the players and coaches.

Woke up today and realized it took 15 years but we finally avenged the Jay Tunnell game. They'll probably still obliterate everyone in St. Louis but if it comes down to an at-large, last night ended that discussion. If we can at least finish the season fun-bad and play spoiler, that's something :p

No disrespect to Emon but that game 100% deserves an asterisk.

That Creighton game was awesome. I was definitely in Mulligan’s enjoying a Long Island during that one. 😂

Well, they did chuck 38 3 pointers, so that partly accounts for it. Maybe we rubbed off some of our 3 point woes on them

Muller had a 4 year run where we beat ranked teams in 4 consecutive years.

- 2012-2013 Season: Feb. 9th @ #16 Creighton 75-72
- 2013-2014 Season: Dec. 7th vs #25 Dayton 81-75
- 2014-2015 Season: Arch Madness, March 7th, 2015 vs #8 Wichita State 65-62
-2015-2016 Season: Feb. 6th vs. #21 Wichita State 58-53

Congrats to Pedon, the players and this staff. This was a win the program needed for the coaches and the fan base.

What a game! I feel like I watched a MIRACLE.

Like others on this forum I also thought Johnny K. should have been playing major minutes all season.
Hey, better late than never. The beauty behind his game was his IQ. I felt like he took what the defense gave him. He didn't force a lot of shots.
