I remind you Quinn...that #6 was 'interacting' with the whole east side for the majority of the game. This NFS cat started it with HIS interactions. I was right there, close enough to blow a few kisses at him and #6 smiling in return. Does the same advice apply to him, and any player for that matter?

I'll give the guy his due. He played the PERFECT heel. It was actually marvelous.
It does, but he's probably under the age of 22. You and others aren't. Just because he does something doesn't mean the fans should return the favor.

A majority of these players aren't even old enough to drink or gamble legally. We forget that.

And there you have it! Now, how does the administration handle it will be the next question.
That’s assuming he is 100 percent accurate. Again, it’s sad that assuming Thomas is lying, that a 22 year old kid would lie about that. Because I would want to believe that he isn’t making that up. Just like I’m not naive to believe that that has never happened before. Fortunately, it doesn’t happen often. Because it make your program look like a bunch of fools when it does!

This does line up, slightly, with what I have heard. One official "heard something." One official did not. No fans are corroborating the story from the player. No one on ISU is corroborating. Whether Norfolk agrees to take part in the investigation or not would determine the next steps I imagine. Based on everything I have heard, I would think nothing comes of this.
I’m going to emphasize “heard”. Only a few people truly know.

Exactly! We are suppose to be kind on the board to our own players…yet feel the need to be different to the players from others. I only try to intimidate officials. Lol

Maybe the kid isn’t lying. Maybe he misheard an innocent comment. Maybe Jones misheard what Thomas said to him and the cat got too far out of the bag to put it back in. I don’t think it happened, but I don’t think Thomas lied or was malicious. Both can be true.

I mentioned something similar a few pages back. Is it possible the player misheard something that he took as a slur? Of course that's possible. It was noisy as hell in the building and at his level on the floor, you have coaches/players/bench chatter going on. So that's entirely likely. But even if this turns out to be another misunderstanding in a sea of misunderstandings, the damage is done. Just by the accusation alone and the way both sides handled it, it's unlikely this will have a good ending, even if/when the real truth comes out. And that's what sucks.

This is what I was going to say. It reminds me a bit of a situation with the Colorado Rockies, where a fan sounds an awful lot like he is screaming the n-word at players. Its even what I heard when I just caught the audio on twitter. But, when it was looked into the fan was yelling out for Digger, who is the mascot of the Rox.

How come I feel like Jones’ is just making sh@t up?
I don’t believe Jones is making this stuff up. Honestly my initial thought and belief was something of the wrong nature was said and at least one ref heard it. It’s just an unfortunate situation all around. Check my earlier posts. Pedon handled the situation as would 99.999% of most would have simply because of man’s nature.
No harm or foul was made by either coach, the fan is at blame here only.A ref could’ve easily paused the game after hearing to explain to both coaches and the latter would not have happened.

This is the eye of this maelstrom right here.

If the ref heard something, he should've pulled both coaches aside and explained it right then and there, so both of them could've received the news at the same time. Then they could have worked together with complete transparency on how to address the situation. By not doing that, it immediately caused a divide and everything has escalated around it.

If Jones has made this up, what are the chances he issues a mea culpa? My guess…zero.
If these allegations proved to be false, and I’m ISU, I’m going hard after him for both libel and slander.

Maybe I'm off base, but I just would think that if the ref directly heard the comment from the fan, especially if it was as blatantly racially-charged as some of the allegations, the ref would have immediately gone over to either the fan or security and had that fan removed. In real time, it was a few minutes after the verbal engagement between Thomas and the fan before they were removed from courtside. And even then, they sat in the south bleachers for a couple minutes behind the bleachers, and later were standing on the upper concourse of the west bleachers watching for awhile. There didn't seem to be real urgency to removing them from the premises.
Agree. I’m not a college ref, but I imagine there are multiple training sessions on how to handle incidents exactly like this. If there aren’t, there should be.

I think it's somewhere in between. I'm sure Jones is taking this way further than what happened (at least with the fan). But I'm also pretty sure that the fan didn't say "Hey I hope you have a nice day".

Hey fans, quit interacting with opposing players. Nothing good is going to come out of it.
This is a very “Popovich” thing to say.

Upon considering the way the mature, stand-up, leader of young man bravely wieldeded his caller ID gatekeeping to thwart Pedon's calmed-down tardy attempt at a legitimate apology...I am guessing the Norfolk St. stance would prefer the Swiss Cheese narrative of "he said/they said" to preserve the remnant publicity of the hornets' nest baiting poke at a possibility of racial insensitivity.

Am I wrong? Ask the guys that got punched by the Piston and Pacers how ever many years ago.

Especially at a college game. You look stupid. Getting into arguments with teens/early 20 year old players. Stupid.
I don’t interact with players (I’m never that close), but if you ban interaction, then what’s next….no booing?
