Like him or not you’ve got to respect the hard work Tone has put in to his game. Kid has a dream and he’s trying his damnedest to make it happen. Two spring/summers working out with NBA trainers and players has got to help. I think he could—could—be a solid journeyman player putting 6-8 years in The League, or a guy who is a key player on a top team in a Euro league . . . or he could fizzle out. I’m hoping he makes it.

The biggest thing working against him right now is his age. NBA teams have been shying away from taking "older" rookies. He's going to be 23 come next summer's NBA draft. I wish him luck.

If he puts in a solid year, I think he could be a second round pick, and then likely need to prove himself in either summer league or with a stint in the G League.

I agree. But there are other paths to the NBA. How many of us expected Fred van Vleet to become a critical player on an NBA championship team? He wasn’t drafted, when he was 22. NBA teams aren’t stupid. They may draft younger players, but they’ll play guys who‘ll help them win.

Some of you will enjoy this little walk down memory lane with Rick Lamb. This is from a facebook group on the "good ole' days" of HS basketball in Illinois (Illinois High School Glory Days website). I think you should be able to access it.

I was still in the area for all of Rick's years at ISU. He was an extremely smart player both on offense and defense. He was not that tall, but his positioning and anticipation were tremendous. He was seldom flashy with very few dunks, but I do remember one particular play. It was a Saturday afternoon game against NM State who was a good Valley team at the time. Rick got the ball about 10 feet from the hoop on the left side and drove to the middle and did a windmill dunk from what seemed to be about 5 feet from the hoop. Horton went nuts and we came back from a double digit deficit for the W. Thank you for sharing the article.

Joe Petrakis sighting last night in Madison, WIU vs. UW. Well, you had to look quick - 4 minutes played, no shots, no boards. 1 block, 1 TO. No help.

Antonio Reeves is absolutely tearing it up for Kentucky. He is leading Kentucky in scoring and is averaging career highs in nearly every stat.

So happy for him! He's proven a lot of people wrong so far. Of course I would l have loved for him to stay at ISU but if I'm a kid with an opportunity to play for a hall of fame coach at one of the true blue blood programs, I wouldn't hesitate. He's always seemed like a humble kid, without any drama.

44% from 3 is awesome! He could be a solid role player in the NBA with the right team. I think of a guard like Austin Reaves (former Wichita State guard that transferred to Oklahoma) who is only 6'5" and plays a great role for the Lakers.

Unfortunately, most teams will view him as too old. Hes the same age as Ayo Dosunmu who is in his 3rd year in the NBA. He will make a living playing ball with ease though.

reeves is an excellent college player but he is a grown man among mostly physically developing (esp strength) younger men. never say never but if his game was nba material he would likely be there now

Definitely understand these perspectives and I'm certainly not predicting that he will, but I do believe he could play in the NBA.

I'm sure very few predicted that Austin Reaves would ever make an NBA roster (if you look at his career stats in college), let alone get the massive contract he earned and has become an integral role player. Austin is only in his 2nd year out of college and he's 25, so he was the same age that Antonio was when he was a senior.
