Wright State 48
Hofstra 38. Half

Either one will present a challenge tomorrow.
3 assists for the entire game. That might be the most horrifying stat I've seen in years. Is that a misprint??? I have hopes for our boys this year but that stat leaves me absolutely dumbfounded. That's a scary number. 25 turnovers is not as scary as 3 assists. Go get em tomorrow fellas.👊
Hofstra had 15 assists tonight

I think we see the game the same way. We’ve had great efforts the last two seasons, individually. I’m not really interested in the games someone gets 22 and we all stand around watching him in a loss. Do we have five guys on the floor who are threats? Does the defense respect everyone on offense when they catch at all areas on the floor? Are we in a position where someone can make a play at all times? I don’t see it. I see an offense that has breakdowns almost every possession. The assist numbers I continue to point out metrically make the case. Eye test wise I think it’s the same. Too often we have 2-3 guys who aren’t threats to dribble, pass, score. It makes us way too easy to guard. I see it with a few. How do we get to a point where it’s all five and we are hard to guard? We are just easy to guard right now.
There need to be much more movement on offense. If the bigs aren’t 25+ points collectively every night it will be a long season. Even that can be overcome with the consistent guard play we’re getting coupled with a wing player steeping up. The ball seem to stick on one side fare too long in possessions.

I say all the time you can win some basketball games off of pure athleticism. They’re the more athletic team. Wide open looks be missed in every game, you make some you miss some. I would’ve been fine with JK taking the last shot as well. I’d start him but I’m no coach. I still can’t pinpoint what type of offense is being run yet either. I’m seeing one set screen and then one on one with the switch. Idk
HPU shot 52% from the field and 40% from 3. I'll take that athleticism every night. When you look at the stats, it's crazy that ISU had a shot to win it at the end.

25+ consistently from the bigs is going to be tough. But you are right on. If they would have had that production tonight, Birds win.

JK is going to be the guy. He is playing his way into the starting rotation/more minutes. Would have loved to see him get the last shot because everywhere he’s been he has been that guy. Has the making of a typical undervalued player by high majors because of his size but has the skills and the intangibles. He will give the rest of the valley fits. Very much looking forward to his redbird career and what can be done around him.

Wife and I watched the game last night after the fact. Great comeback and honestly I didn't think we were capable of it but damn the guys were right there. My wife wants Mal, Banks and JK to play 40 minutes. I do too but that just isn't possible. Those three on the court seem to play a fluid style. Lieb needs to be stronger in the paint when trying to score. He is strong in the paint rebounding. Burford had a really nice game and it was nice to see him bounce back. I agree that something seems off with Kasubke. My wife noticed it as well. Pence looks like he is on the cusp of the game slowing down for him. Need a wing to step up. I think come January this team will be rolling.

Am I the only one that see the offense being ran on one side of the floor? Maybe we need more movement on that end. The talent level is by far better than last year. Even in a close loss I like what I’m seeing but it’s a bit weird to watch. After 5 games in we’re sitting at 3-2. I”ll take it.
After 5 games, 3-2 I am fine with it. Now go get a win a today. After today they don't play again til the 30th and you have some winnable games at home for the entire month of December. Get to 4-2 going into the break with winnable games on your schedule until December 29th.

With everything posted on this site regardless of what’s said, collectively there have been 40+ FT’s missed. From my view the game to St. Louis was lost just because of that. If they become a better FT Shooting Team it will cure and hide some problems with wins.

It was good the guys didn't get down and it was cool to claw back and take the lead late, but ultimately it's still a L. If that kind of game happens @ Kentucky, fine. But new roster or not we don't want to hang our hats on a great comeback vs. the all-powerful High Point, do we? Good effort, yes. But lost a winnable game.

Learn. Forget. Clean it up and move on to today. Gotta get this one.

Well said. I think there will be a shake up in the starting line up soon, tonight idk. I think JK is making a huge case for himself. The wing spot, The wing spot is an issue. Maybe try Sissoko there and have him be a slasher. If the bigs have freedom to take 3’s he should be able to also. Over the summer he’s shown he’s capable

I think both losses were very winnable. I also think High Point will turn out to be a very good team too. Yes a L is an L but this loss won’t turn out to be as bad as it seem to be right now. The Birds have lost to two decent teams.

Yes, it's not the end of the world, especially for a rebuilding team at a neutral site. I just don't want this "we played them close" narrative to start to take hold. We just need to start winning games like this. LBSU was a great example. Didn't follow it up yesterday. Let's get it today and come home 4-2, which isn't too shabby.

It's not that I don't like our guys. But I see one, maybe 2 guys, (but probably one) who are playing...that actually help others to be better by the type of game he plays and how he plays the game. (there's one on the bench that I believe helps the others get into a better offensive flow, but he ain't gonna play)

Now, I'm going to take a deep breath...and hope for the best again. GO BIRDS.
I see more than a few that actually play the game the right way. Playing the game in different ways makes teammates better as well. For an example, an unselfish player don’t jack up bad shots, get rid of it when doubled team, makes the extra pass and hit the open man. For one Lieb also play the game the right way. He looks for open guys on the perimeter when given the chance and his passes are usually crisp as well. JK is awesome undeniably. I’m saying right now when conference play come around he’s gonna get attacked by the Valley’s guards. Is he a dog, is he tough enough? Yes I believe he is. He still have to continue to grow like all the kids. His time will come sooner or later. He’s so comfortable with where he is right now and have confidence through the roof. He’s on a good pace.

I'll say it again. If Lieb can produce from the paint, it will change the dynamic of our team. No question Valley will try to pressure the smack out of Johnny and try to physically smack him around, too. I would if I were an opposing coach. I'm not ready to anoint him yet, but what I love is...he has played his way into the lineup.

He’s become so deserving. Pedon does have some nice pieces this year for sure. Honestly I think JK can start at 1 right now in The Valley. Have DB or Mal at the 2, try Dalton at 3, Lewis at4 and Lieb at 5. Either way you still would have two very good pg’s/ball handlers on the floor with a bigger 3 with the ability to handle, slash, knockdown 3’s and penetrate. I like that lineup.

Spot on. As you state Johnny has been impressive but life will become more difficult now that there is some film becoming available on this redbird team. Regardless, I like his game’s future no doubt

However we need the inside game as well as the inside out game the comes with a good inside game. When the inside out game is working every player’s life is easier and the team play emerges.
LETS GO LIEB!!
