Hated the last play, don’t have Burford inbound, pass it directly to him or knight. Jeez, we are good at finding ways to lose
Why not go earlier in the clock and get a chance at a rebound or another possession? Head scratching.

I"ll take it a step further. EVERYONE knew Murray State had a foul to give and was going to foul and we didn't have a 2nd play ready to go? We ran the exact same play!

Like you said, need to have gone quick for a chance at a board or another possession. Not good.

Judging is easy. Going out there and play: I bet none of us here on redbird fans can do it. We are good at talking done nonsense. If we are do good, go ahead and be a coach!

That last 4 minutes of the half was the worst we’ve played all year and that’s saying a lot. Also what the hell is up with this halftime performance? Is this what our university has become? Hard to watch on all fronts.
Then, for goodness sake, don’t watch the game if it bothers you! Go out there and play. Experience for yourself how it feels to get kicked around and loose. Show some respect to Redbirds. At least they tried their best. Of course they made mistakes, but watch again how they played: some phenomenal moments! Why not talk about that?

Poor defense, dumb turnovers, same recipe last 3 1/2 games. The great offensive start covered it up, but couldn’t keep it up.
Go out there and play, don’t just sit around and talk trash about Redbirds players.

A lot about what????!!!! Are you a coach? If so, I’ve never heard of your name. Which team do you coach?

This fan base has been getting kicked around for 25 years. I'm guessing you haven't been a part of this base for more than a year and in 3 years (probably less) you will be gone. "At least they tried their best" Stop. It's about winning. Just win. Get to the NCAA or move on.

If you look inside Redbird Arena that’s what has been happening for several years! Fans have decided for one reason or another to not watch! While it’s easy for you to say that… it’s a business! And without those donors/fans in the seats- it’s hard for Redbird basketball to be sustainable!

Jaheem Webber was in attendance tonight with the rest of the Normal Community basketball team. Didn't notice Braylon Roman, but I may have missed him.
Last night might actually have been good for recruiting: see a group of players pulling hard for each other (culture!), while also noticing the giant “OPEN POSITIONS. INQUIRE WITHIN” sign (opportunity!) we might as well hang courtside. Jump right in and earn immediate PT.

My boys and I enjoyed watching the comeback, even though it fizzled out. Chalk the final play up to growing pains: Pedon will not make the same mistake again not having a second play ready when the opponent uses their foul to give.

We all suspected this roster would end up here, but they’ve generally put up a solid effort. Being down 1-2 rotation players from an already shallow rotation makes this even more difficult.

I’m about to play an adult halfcourt rec league at the Y; i expect to be gassed - I can’t imagine the stamina required to sprint back and forth for 40 minutes and still perform at a high level.

I understand that Pedon is a 1st time head coach but that is a mistake that shouldn't be happening. So far this staff has not blown my socks off with recruiting but I was holding out hope that their Xs & Os were solid, very disappointing.

If you’re worried, Benson on it: </sarcasm font>

For what it's worth....Pedon literally said in the pregame that Liam was out with a back injury...I'm telling you, please get your news from the source and stop giving this guy clicks! The only way the Pantagraph would consider moving on is if readers stop supporting his nonsense.

This team does play hard for 40 minutes all the time, I’ll give them that. They don’t give up and have made some comebacks. But I’ve been a fan for over 45 years, tired of no NCAAs and the last 5 years have been brutal. This isn’t kids Y ball, trying hard is good, but fans watch and Pay money to see their teams win. No we are never going to be Duke, NC or Kentucky, but we shouldn’t be UIC either…

Everyone wants to win. No one wants to loose. We all know that. The problem is, we are good at talking, show some actions!

I got news of what it was by asking Matthew's as he was walking down the steps of Redbird and thought about messaging people or saying what it was but decided not to. Also thought about telling the Vidette guys before hand so they could have broken before Benson.

"It's easy to comeback, it's hard to comeback and win." A saying Muller would use time and time again. Pedon isn't saying that. He's been very honest about what this year is. He's excited to get more of HIS guys in the door next season. At the end of the day, this roster will always struggle against teams with any depth. There are 5 serviceable players right now. The rotation is 7, when healthy. Murray's bench had 34....ISU's...4
I was surprised not to see some zone from the Birds last night. That one kid was hot (shout out to Luke for holding him to 3 points in the second half, after 22 in the first) and everyone else was okay. Luke and Mal got caught downlow again and the switching continue to make me scratch my head. At the very least, in a zone, you could've put Schmitt or Kotov out there in the middle to take up space and make it harder to get to the basket. If nothing else, they'd be good for some contact on Murray's bigger guys.

Effort was there for the most part, but so was fatigue. The last play, the shot wouldn't have counted but the foul occurred before the buzzer with 0.2. You can see DB get hit in the head. The ref called all ball. However, if you look at the stat sheet, Murray is officially credited with ZERO blocks....

I don’t have much issue with the set at the end like others do. Burford, our best playmaker, drove and got to the rim. It didn’t work out, but more often than not, I’m going to take my chances with that type of play from that player in the waning seconds.

Appreciate the fight. We played three walk-ons and found a way to have a shot to win the game on the final possession.

Losing obviously sucks, but again, I like the fight I see in these guys.

We are showing actions in our own ways. In some cases, that includes not wasting anymore time or money watching a bad product. You are new here but the apathy from the fan base is real. We aren’t too far removed from a thread from a losing game being 20 pages long. This one is at 2.

It’s been 25 years and wanting to win and trying hard isn’t going to end that.
Don't be too hard on Jus, she's obviously one of the player's mom and she doesn't understand the backstory of what was once a proud basketball program. She probably has no context as to why so many people are so disgusted by the state of the program and its CCIW caliber roster.

I would side with the optimism/positivity that playing the game the right way and playing hard and not quitting are all traits that are excellent in a program. Culturally, it looks like Coach Pedon knows what he is trying to accomplish and is doing so. That is great. It will help at some point.

There seems to be some sentiment on the board that it isn't mutually exclusive to have questions about performance and still think things will get better. I struggle with the continued talk about how hard we play, how we play for each other, how we don't quit, etc... Is that the expectation for the program now? We play hard - well, so do most teams. Not quitting isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. We haven't improved one iota from last season. We are going to finish at the bottom of the league and are fighting to finish ahead of Valpo, who are clamoring for their coach to be fired!

The President of the university abruptly resigned. Season tickets have never been lower. Donations are down. Attendance last night wasn't over 2,500. Students don't come to games. This department and basketball program need a sudden shift and thinking realistically I think it is quickly becoming a less than desirable spot for coaches or players like it used to be.

I agree, Sen was getting backed down quite a bit and he's just not big enough to be effective down there. A couple bigger or longer bodies would've been helpful.
