Except this ref got it right. And the McIntosh play happened right in front of Johnny Dawkins (which I’m guessing was by design). That last play was the UCF PG/McIntosh play
We shot 50 % plus the first half while making 30% from three. Ergo we were scoring in close so what do we do to start the second half? Hoist up 6/7 threes and only two shots inside. 33% for the game. Then come out in OT and score first three baskets inside. Drives me crazy.
Excellent excellent summation. This team has the effort to beat anyone in a 1-game setting. It does not have the consistency and depth right now to win 3-4 games in March. If McChesney can find his game again like Lewis has and Sandage can get back on the court, we could be in a whole lot better shape.
It was a great win. The first half was the best half of ball this season. I thought Mal played his best game at pg. he was looking to for assist when touching the paint which is good to see of him finally.Great to get the win. Disjointed, scrambled, physical and generally ugly game. Again, it was free throws that decided this contest.
This I so thought that, that at least a block should have been called. If you look at Anderson I thought his feet were definitely in the cylinder in the lane.Along a similar front, at around the 7:41 mark in the second half, Burford receives an inbound pass, backs into Anderson for a turnaround jumper, misses the shot but gets his own rebound, banks that in, then trips over Anderson on the floor. It was a bit of a surprise that, with all of the whistles being blown, no foul of any kind (block/charge/flop) was called. Wondered at the time, if the defender in question was (for example) Sandage (who appears to have garnered a reputation), would it had been officiated differently?
On our side or UIC’s?I don’t want to start a new recruiting thread and haven’t seen if this was mentioned but Zack Hawkinson out of Springfield (2023 kid) was in attendance.
AAU teammates. That Mid-Pro team was so stacked, I don't know how they ever lost a game. Players going to Iowa (2), Mizzou, ILST, Southern Alabama, now looking like Hawkinson going D1 in some capacity as well. I saw him play a bit in the SFHC and I wish I would've seen more. Kid is a baller.Sitting by home team tunnel. Ty Pence visited with him at half time.
This game was just so strangely officiated on both sides of the ball. Birds got most of the calls in the first half and UIC got most in the second.Nice to get the "W" in such a disjointed game. Cannot recall the last game where there were so many offensive fouls (and various kinds, no less) were called.
And to those who thought it was "addition by subtraction" when DB could not go last game versus the Salukis, not sure we win this one if he was unavailable.
Plus, for any of us who think we may have personnel or rotations figured out, Kotov was back down to only two minutes played whereas there was the first Malcolm Miller sighting of the year (for five).
Our FT% Defense has to be one of the best in the nation!Great to get the win. Disjointed, scrambled, physical and generally ugly game. Again, it was free throws that decided this contest.
