Maybe I am dating myself, but does anyone else remember the old fundamental on a fast break? If it is a 2 man break, each pick a side. If it is a 3 man break, ball in the middle and don’t go beyond the FT line. Do they even teach this stuff anymore?

Wow . . . in the 2nd half so far . . . we can't make a dunk . . . or hang on to the ball . . . or block out . . .

CSU is by far the more aggressive team in the 2n half. They're crashing the offensive boards hard . . . and we're not boxing out.

The ball sticks on one side way too much this is becoming aggravating to me

Bingo. It’s called selfish ball when it’s not done the right way.

I like sissoko getting minutes and being physical. Nice to see Liam back though clearly limited. Chi state as physical anyone yet didn’t get called for fouls. 15 assists which is excellent. 16turnovers not so good. The thing I liked best is they made a run and we got four good shots in a row. Good experience. I will take it happily. Merry Christmas gang!

Some nice stat lines tonight from several players. Knight, Kazooski, Sissoko and Lewis.

Glad to see Ryan get back on the court. We missed his energy

Gotta trim down the out of control turnovers. Do that and keep plugging away with how we are at most other aspects of the game and our wins will outnumber losses

Thought we were more aggressive most of the game.

Two plays in a row in the first half, we took a late shot clock shot, missed but wrestled for the rebound, and kicked it out for an open three. Fundamentals 👏, 👏, 👏👏👏 are awesome

Nice bounce back win tonight. Sissoko is coming on - still a long way to go but improving. We scored when we needed to. One thing for sure - when we turn the ball over - it is usually a head scratcher. Burford, Poindexter, and Luke - scored a lot of Big baskets.

The foul calls were tilted a little the wrong way. I do not remember one call on CSU when they were guarding our guards, Sandage called for Travel after a rebound was terrible, and one of the charging fouls on Knight was garbage. I was glad to see McCheese play - but he needs a lot of ham, pot roast, and potatoes.

Good Win - now everyone have a Merry Christmas and hope to see a lot of people in Red up at UIC.

“H” is becoming more and more confident, and his teammates are showing more and more trust in him. Tonight he made another incredible block from behind.

Shot of the game has to be Lewis’s slam after his steal.

There was really only one way to run a 2 on 1 break and one way to run a 3 on 2 break back in the day. Stan Albeck was the first coach I saw at a clinic go over different options with the 3 point line. On a 3 on 2, he liked a shooter drawing a defender and taking a quick 3, then having a 2 to 1 rebounding advantage where there was still a good chance of scoring on the miss. Then again, I believe he had a shooter named Hersey Hawkins. (But if you are implying many players don't know what to do on a break, I think you might be right.)

In a side note: We had the privilege of being officiated tonight by a world-class, professional in Amy Bonner. If you aren’t familiar with her work, do some internet research. She’s light years better than a Pollard!
Best in the crew tonight. No ego, but leaves no doubt about who’s in charge. Very experienced Randy Heimerman was terrible tonight, very inconsistent on charging calls, and just plain missing blocks and holds under the basket.

Good to get a Dub.

Haven't seen anyone say it, but Poindexter shot it well. Starting to feel really confident that they are going to go when he's getting looks and letting them fly.

Definitely like seeing the cutting going on. Sure beats the perimeter hang out in space days from the previous regime.

Jean-Charles was getting all the try hard boards in this game too, just like the Murray game, so it apparently is who he is. Wasn't sure if that was a game in game out thing, but I guess so. Hopefully we can find a guy like that who crashes the glass so well for a freshman.

Sissoko is bringing rim protection. He keeps doing that, he has to keep playing.

Now we wait. Really looking forward to being a "student for a day" on 12/31. I think I'll leave the pre-game kegstands in the 90s though...hope to see a lot of people in Redbird that afternoon.
