Wills could stay at his current position? So Tony Wills & Rob Johnson officially gone.
There are still a couple of positions that’ll need filled that tend to differ from staff to staff. Every staff has a DOBO (I think Jon Ekey could fill this role), then there are player development guys, video coordinators, quality control specialists, etc. So, there are likely going to be at least two more guys added, or retained.Wills could stay at his current position?
For the last several years he's been a "special assistant." I'm sure he was itching to get back into more of a hands-on role. Plus, I believe his wife is a teacher at ISU? Seems like he's ready to call BN home again. Between his time as a player and coach, he's spent about 20 years in BN, Champaign and Peoria.Good to see Coach Judson back. Interesting that he made the jump from Big East DePaul to MVC ISU. Coach Pedon has assembled a decent crew, it seems - very experienced Judson, including Big East and Big 10, and also HC for several years in MAC; less experienced Offut, MAC and SoCo; pretty green but let's call him young and dynamic Dakich, but played for very excellent Beilein and at OSU. You'd have to think these guys will work well together, based on Pedon's emphasis on "relationships" - I'm assuming he wouldn't bring in anyone he didn't feel a good comfort level with and who he didn't think could work together. Onward and upward!
It speaks well of Coach Judson's character.........and perhaps of Pedon's people skills........that Judson is coming back. Wasn't he passed over when the job went to Dan Muller 10 years ago?
Wasn’t just a rumor. Was 100% Judson’s job until some big dogs came to the dept and threatened to walk with their money if Muller wasn’t hired. The rumor at the time was that Judson was going to get the job but some ISU donors weren't overly impressed and forced a last minute change in direction, and the rest is history...
