Hard to say right? Based on his modest results at Niu it could've been a trainwreck. Then again, maybe he'd learned some things and would've been better. He had plenty of time there though and I think his best year was 17 wins (might be wrong)

Yep 17 wins 2x in 6 years were his best marks (and his only 2 winning seasons in Dekalb)

NIU is an extremely difficult place to win. Idk why they’ve struggled so mightily, but some solid coaches have failed there.

The rumor at the time was that Judson was going to get the job but some ISU donors weren't overly impressed and forced a last minute change in direction, and the rest is history...
Yes, Judson was a finalist for the job. So much so that Benson announced him as the new Coach in the Pantagraph.
That was a major oops by the Pantagraph. I remember it well.
