I don’t think his parents would push him to leave. They did enjoy ISU, but as with any supporting family I’m sure they helped make the best decision for him. Zero ill will towards them or DJ.Ha. I knew he was transferring. Where are the people who said he's gonna stay because his military dad taught him values. I hope it's NC state
Coaches have to win the transfer portal game in today’s landscape to be successful. Dan striking out there too, among the many other areas he’s failing.
It's called I have 2 years to get to the Dance. This is nothing more than business!Ha. I knew he was transferring. Where are the people who said he's gonna stay because his military dad taught him values. I hope it's NC state
Such a great thing to gloat about.Ha. I knew he was transferring. Where are the people who said he's gonna stay because his military dad taught him values. I hope it's NC state
Or maybe, just maybe, he wants to go somewhere where the school actually cares about winning. Can't complain he was not receiving playing time. Maybe he does not like playing the point. He must be reading the Board of discontent encouraging our young talent to seek greener pastures. Hoping that will hasten Dan's tenure at ISU. Nostradamus predicts Dan will still be the ISU Coach in next year
Looking for next year's Sy Chatman . . .This is exactly right. For every defection on the portal there is an opportunity. What is Dan doing?
Maybe it’s one player with 15 transfer entriesNot MVC but I noticed that UT-Martin has 15 players in the transfer portal. Did we even have 15 players on our roster last year?
Perfect time to create more of a true minor league system (ala baseball). That way the kids on campus are more likely there for the right reason...to get a free education and also play basketball.I was listening to ESPNU today discussing the transfer plague that is impacting college basketball and the hosts surmised that this may hasten old school coaches to retire. The old school coaches despise the free-for-all transfer policy and don't know how to deal with it. You have to recruit your current players every year now. They know Roy Williams and said that he had had enough of this nonsense although it wasn't the reason for his retirement. He used to brag to them that he never had a player transfer year after year. However, the last couple of years have been a different story for him. Things have changed on the college basketball landscape. The free-for-all transfer policy lets players bail at the first sign of adversity. So, if a coach yells at a player and hurts his feelings then they can now easily take their talents to South Beach (minus the scheduling of a big announcement on ESPN). The ability to leave without much penalty is good for the student-athlete but is bad for the universities. Coaches are going to have to change the way they recruit and build a team. The grass is always greener -- and especially to a young kid's mind. There will be loads of playing time available for the Redbirds next year. Wow! Big loss on DJ. I really liked him and enjoyed watching him in a Redbird uniform. Good luck to him wherever he lands. He was trending towards having one of the best careers at ISU in quite awhile and now he'll just have 2 years left and have to start over. I'm sure he will excel wherever he lands.
