Loyola in a real barn burner. 9-8 with less than 9 minutes left in the half.

Oops. Wrong thread.

Original post updated with Abdou's destination, and the two new players out of Drake/SIU.

The portal will very likely go over 1,000 names today. Amazing.

I just can't see how he would not want to play for his old man and in the Big12. However if kid stays then I'd give him props for his loyalty. But with the other stud transferring out of UNI I think he'll bolt too

Is Iowa St going to be happy with this? I'm thinking they might have been interested in a package deal. Weird.

Coach Jake confirms that all but one player will return. Evan Gauger is leaving. Noah Carter has removed his name from the portal and seniors Trae Berhow and Tywhon Pickford will utilized their extra year of eligibility.

Added: Loyola's Cooper Kaifes. Kid scorched the nets as a freshman a couple of seasons ago. Sustained an injury that kept him out a year and struggled this season. Every MVC school has now had at least one transfer.

Adunk, what's a normal year look like?
More and more every year for the most part. Likely a 100% increase about a decade.

2012: 577
2013: 672
2014: 752
2015: 829
2016: 800
2017: 904
2018: 882
2019: 990
2020: 1,026
2021: 1,051 and counting...

Season isn't over yet, and seniors haven't made decisions about utilizing their extra year. Once the season ends and seniors announce their decisions, you have to expect younger guys will look at the roster and not want to be stuck behind a dude who is going to play 35 min per game. Not saying this would happen but for example, if Krutwig decided to come back, that would cause Hutson to see significantly less time and hinder his development. Perhaps a bad example since you can only get better going against a dude like Krutwig every day in practice, but you get the point.

I'd predict the end of season number to be around 1,200

Thanks for that! A disturbing trend indeed. One of my friends was telling me of a rumor that Krutwig might be interested in going to U of I, but I wouldn't put much stock into it unless he really wants to win it all. Could they start both him and Kofi if Kofi stays? That would be a tough lineup. It would be fun to watch even though I'm not a U of I fan. I kinda feel Krutwig stays put.

Yes, I think the transfer thing is totally out of hand. Nuts.

I would say no way Krutwig could "star" in the Big 10+, but that's what I said about Reggie Lynch and Liam Robbins, so what the hell do I know?? I thought in the tournament, he was very poorly defended, teams underestimated him, and he's got great footwork, so he was able to maneuver pretty successfully. At least the first game.

I doubt Kofi stays this time.

If Porter were to leave than nothing would surprise me
