I would say it depends on how much longer he is going to be out. Typical time out is 4-8 weeks with a broken collarbone that doesn't need surgery 8-12 if it does. I'm not sure if he needed surgery. If the team has a chance at making a playoff run having him back would be huge and I would think he would want to contribute to that. If we start losing I would say pack it up until next year.

Anyone hear anything on Edgar coming back ???

If he’s not back in the next two weeks, is it worth looking at a redshirt year? Obviously the player has to be willing, but is Edgar coming off a long layoff for a few games worth it versus the potential for a full additional season?

Coming this Saturday will be 5 weeks.

Edgar already used his redshirt in 2017 ... thinking he has reasonable shot at a medical redshort ... unless that is what you meant.

Grimes has not used his redshirt yet, so he can do that.

Well, Coach Spack said on his show tonight that Edgar did have surgery to insert a plate. He went on to say he is hopefully Edgar will be back for the Mo State game.

That would be great timing ... we will need to close out season with 2 strong wins against MoST and YSU. If we have zero upsets this season, we will be in playoffs at 8-4. And that could be the first season with zero upset (true upsets) losses since 2015 season.

 Maybe I need to backoff Spack and this pass game tirade I'm on ????

;) Nah !!!

Yes, that’s what I meant. It appears as long as you have some sort of injury and don’t go over 4 games, you’ll get the extra RS.

So we got big home game against MoST. ... a team we took for granted on road last year.

Any word on WR Edgar returning this week. Need to keep working on our pass game .. would love to have him back even as part timer this week. So he is 100% in the mix for YSU and playoffs.

From JHBird in the Playoff chances thread:

"Brock spoke to us yesterday before the basketball game. He wants us all to drag some of your friends to the game this weekend.
He said Edgar is practicing and will be ready for YSU, and that he'll make a big difference in the offense."

Sounds like he's tracking to play at Youngstown. I suspect with MoSt being what they are they'll hold him out completely to make sure he's healthy all the way around. It could make a huge difference for us to have him relatively fresh for the playoff run.
