This game is going to be about as vanilla as you can get from a play calling standpoint. There should be no reason to tip off Eastern ILL or Colorado St. about anything even remotely resembling an exotic package that we might run when we come up against them in the next couple of games.

The Birds started out the last two years against weak teams. Both times under the OC by Committee were extremely sluggish for the first and most of the second quarter before breaking out in the second half. I think this year they will come out guns ablazing and really have a breakout first half. I think we will see some big runs showing off our offensive line and long passes trying to test out who should be our receivers. Further, I could see Jake Kolbe stepping aside after one series in the third quarter to test out who should be the number 2. Tons of QBs right now - who will stand out to challenge Jake Kolbe?

Loved the bomb at the beginning of the scrimmage. He looked pretty poised back there. I can only imagine how much he'll improve once he really gets the hang of the offense.
