I've reconnoitered Airbnb and VRBO and pickings are slim, particularly on my budget. So where do you think we should stay, Madbird? Feels like it's time to get on this.

Yeah, the Badgers "travel well" even at home, not surprised lots is taken up already. For VRBO, did you look at some of the surrounding towns/suburbs such as Fitchburg, Verona, Waunakee, Stoughton, Sun Prairie? Mount Horeb farther out. Prairie du Sac and Sauk Prairie are about 15-20 miles west on a good highway, might be able to scrape up some VRBO out there in the fall.

Cottage Grove is about 5 miles east of Madison, they have a new Comfort Suites, might not have bookings out that far.

I could prolly put up a couple on the futon in the basement sports bar, maybe another 2-3 on the inflatable mattress! ;)

I'm showing up for this one. I'm not sure who we will have on the field or whether we can even keep it close but it should be a good time regardless.

That is very kind of you, sir!

I LOVE me an airbnb within easy walking distance of the stadium. Had some really good times walking thru the various "Wrigleyvilles" around some of 'em. When I checked over the weekend there were some large ones available, but nothing small for my early-retiring wife and I.

It looks to me like there are plentiful motels along I-90 that are downright cheap for a gameday weekend in a P5 city, but require a drive to the stadium thru what looks like a bottleneck between the lakes to me. I'm looking at the motels along Rt 14/18, especially by the Arboretum. Maybe hike thru there to and from the game, weather permitting.

I'm definitely gonna show up for this one too. Don't give a rip if it's Christians v Lions either, but think our D won't get schooled.

I always drive up on game-day. Randall Elementary School is on Regent about 2 blocks southwest of Camp Randall. They charge $25 to park. Lucky's bar is also on Regent a couple of blocks southeast of Camp Randall. Great game-day bar. Both fill up fast so don't sleep in. Coaches get free tickets in the south endzone so that's probably where I'll be.

MadBird when are you going to let everyone know about the post-game party at your house?

Hotel Ruby Marie might fit for you, not on the side of the capital square close to the UW, but there's plenty of bars and restaurants around it. Historic old building. Pretty good hike from the arboretum to the stadium but could be done. Hotel Indigo another new place closer to campus that could be walked or public trans.

Traffic thru the Isthmus is a bitch on game day, actually almost any road in Madison, the Beltline (14/18) too. Your hunch to get as close as possible and walk is right on.
