fourthandshort said:we are definitely on the bubble. By season end, both SDSU and UNI will be top 10 .. they both have easy games left and should close out well. So 3 of our 4 losses will be to teams ranked #1 NDSU (11-0) by 14 on road, then probably #6 SDSU (8-2) by 10 at home, then probably, #10 UNI (7-4) by 10 on road. Our one weak loss was by 3 to MoST on road. And we beat an FBS convincingly, a good WIU team by 17 (got some help at end), destroyed SIU worse than most teams.
So I agree we don't look a playoff team at moment, but we just played 3 very tough teams, 2 on the road. And it wasn't like NDSU or SDSU steamrolled us up and down the field .. both games were close statistically .. UNI was a beatdown every way you look at it .. but losing by an average of 11 points to 3 likely top 10 teams .. 2 of of which will be top 8 seeds, will not be a death sentence for our playoff hopes. And 1 weak 3 point loss shouldn't by itself either. We had 3 of those in 2016 and still got it with an FBS win.
The STX game might be what kills us .. but we are in the discussion if we close out with 2 good wins.

At the end of the day, the committee is going to see 6-5 with a win over 3-6 (at that point, probably 4-7) Colorado St and 5 unranked FCS teams while our games against UNI, SDSU and the Bison all resulted in us getting our teeth kicked in.
Your hopes of making the tournament at this point sit on the shoulders of Colorado St and them somehow going 3-0 to end the season (including a win vs #14 Utah St).
Just don't see it.
That said, it was Davis' first year under center and I expect bigger things next season.
Little point of order needed here. That's #7 SoS in FCS, and #6 in the Valley. Speaks to the strength of the league, I think.ricohill said:Obviously, they look at your SOS nationally, but I would think having the 7th ranked schedule in the league might hurt when the committee looks at ISU?
It seems to me that St. Xavier game keeps dragging us down. It doesn't count as a win, but takes down our SOS.

Um no. The St. Xavier game does NOT factor into our SOS.
