Kansas State transfer with at least 2 years of eligibility (3 if he utilizes the COVID year. 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. Fall 2020 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. 6'5, 190 pound guard who played a season-high 27 minutes against Baylor this season. Didn't put up great numbers, but you have to think he was at least playing solid defense to be on the court that long.

He was a top 200 kind coming out of high school and top 40 SG in the class of 2020. STL kid that held offers from Mizzou, Creighton, Xavier, Loyola, Illannoy, Nebraska, and.... Illinois State. Business major. Makes sense.

Welcome aboard!

I Work with his mom, so I’m pretty pumped about this. He was highly sought after out of Chaminade and it just didn’t work out at Kansas State. Porter wanted him bad and it was one of his final three visits.

I think he will flourish in the Valley.

Welcome to the family Luke!

A fresh start in many areas of life can be transformational and I hope this is the case for Luke.

Here are a few highlights from his high school career.....
  • A consensus Top 200 prospect by several recruiting services… Also rated among the Top 40 shooting guards in the country, including No. 31 by Rivals.com and No. 37 by 247Sports.com… Rated as the No. 6 prospect in the state of Missouri by 247Sports.com.

  • Twice was named to the Class 5A All-State team by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association

  • Scored nearly 1,500 points (1,466) in his prep career, which ranks sixth on the all-time scoring list at Chaminade… The list includes current pros Jayson Tatum (1st) and Bradley Beal (2nd) and former pro David Lee (4th)… Also ranks ninth in career scoring average (22.3 ppg.)…

  • Scored in double figures in 21 of 27 games played, including one 40-point and three other games of 20 or more points… Scored a season-high 40 points in a win over St. Vincent-St. Mary’s (12/20/19) on 14-of-22 field goals, including 9-of-12 from 3-point range… Scored the career-high point total in front of St. Vincent-St. Mary’s alumnus LeBron James.

  • Ranked 10th in scoring in the St. Louis area as a junior in 2018-19, averaging a team-best 22.3 points on 47.2 percent (197-of-417) shooting, including 37.9 percent (69-of-182) from 3-point range… Connected on 54.5 percent (128-of-235) from inside the 3-point arc

Whoa he scored the points in front of Lebron???? Thank god this guy just transferred and didn’t declare for the draft! Was lebron guarding him or just in the crowd?

Kidding! Love this get for the Redbirds! As a whole, I’ll take the players we got over the players we lost any day of the week! Great start to the Pedon era!

Regardless, what an incredible life experience that must have been to play in front of LeBron. His former high school is a pretty well renowned high school in the St Louis area (Jason Tatum, Bradley Beal, etc.) which I'm sure is why they were able to schedule and play against St Vincent St Marys.

While his college career hasn't gotten off to a great start, I did read that he had a foot injury and perhaps just never really got going in a rhythm after that. As others have mentioned, he had some really solid offers out of high school and was recruited pretty heavily.

I have no expectations for any of the new kids as I don't believe it's ever wise to put pressure on kids like that but I do enjoy learning about where they came from and the unique attributes they may bring to the team. It'll be interesting to see the type of team that coach Pedon puts together and how they might gel as the season evolves.

Welcome to Redbird Nation Luke!! I like this kinda get by Pedon and company and its the kind of guard/forward/wing that we will see from him. It appears Pedon continues to attack players and a specific skill set that will fit in the system that Pedon wants to run. Again welcome to Redbird Nation Luke, look forward to watching you play.

This is the only video I've watched of him so far but he reminds me of AJ Green. Has range, can drive it and finish through contact, and really nice feel for when to keep the ball moving versus attack/take his shot. Looks like you can slot him at the 2/3.

It looks like the team they were playing was not very good but as mentioned on here, Chaminade is a STL Powerhouse.

Happy to see this addition, welcome to the Redbird program!

I like too in that the Twitter feed posted on the recruiting section here has comment of “Reminder Davion Bradford, Luke Kasbuke are both in the transfer portal who could be huge pickups for SLU @CoachTFord5”. I think it is a good sign are making headway with guys that are of interest to schools like SLU. Nice work new ISU staff.
