I'd just say the biggest difference is that Prohm has years of experience as a D1 HC. Moving over a seat changes the way you see the game. My expectations for wins this season were and remain very low. I want to see a team compete, care, and give effort. I'd say to this point, they've done that more times than not (like 55%). The talent just really doesn't seem to be there.
You know what they say, "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." Work hard for 40 minutes and they'll be able to be in a lot of games. They haven't put 40 minutes together yet. There will be games where the Birds play their tails off and other team is just has more talent. LSU is the perfect example. Birds could've played hard all 40 minutes and still lost by 10. That's the nature of the beast.
Next year's roster will look different. Hopefully, the portal will be kind to supplement some pieces. I'd be interested in getting more guys that were lower role players at the P6 level versus starters from what many would say are "lower D1s."
If I had to guess, they'll be filling at least 4 scholarships when spring rolls around. I hope its not too much more because that's when you get back to the "these guys haven't played together" thing we hear all about.
That said, it feels like this team will be playing better in January than they are now. Will that translate to wins? Time will tell.
