How many passes this game have been thrown to the fans? I’ve heard of the 6th man advantage, but this is ridiculous.

He played as a 6’6” forward when I saw him play and had a lot of high percentage baskets inside.
I should add, though, I understand your point. He did get points in the paint. Confusion arises as he wasn’t a predominantly inside player.

Don't look at our turnovers and personal fouls compared to Northern Iowa.

The main thing that stood out to me this game was our lack of fundamentals compared to UNI. There is night and day difference in ballhandling, passing and even squaring up to catch a pass. Those are not just things you work on in the second grade and stick with you forever. I hope our next coach makes a commitment to fundamentals on an almost daily basis.

Yeah, not being able to get the basics is a large part of what has plagued us under Dan's tenure.

Open the portal. The talent gap we need to close is immense in order to be competitive at the top of the conference night in and night out. Rebuild the entire thing!

All in all, game went about as well as I expected. Turnovers and the paint killed us. We were never completely out of it, but never really in it. UNI has better depth, a better coach, and are much better fundamentally.

I'm not sure where we are talent wise, but good teams have a system in place that players need to learn. As they get older, they develop into good ball players that fit that system. Take a guy like Freeman. I personally think he athletically can do things that most players can't. If he were on UNI this year, I am guessing he would seldom see the court. By the time he would be a senior, he would be a key factor in their success.

Yes. And so many others have hit it on the head.

Terrible rebounding, or really lack of it. No boxing out, weak jumping (this was one of my pet peeves with Schmitt). Nobody "goes after" the ball. Never get the "50-50" balls. Stand and watch the other team grab them. Lazy cross court passes, weak little girl handoffs. All of this before we even get to the crappy shot selection.

And the lack of a "scheme", an offensive play book.

Freeman drives some of you nuts, it's Fleming for me. I just don't trust him with the ball. He does some good things during the game, no doubt, but kinda loosey goosey most of the time. Strong - believes in himself, you have to say that for him. But sir, put the ball down!!

Oh well, it's onward and upward and a few months of watching the portal and a fresh start for next year!

The book is finally closed on this era. Todays game was essentially what the last 3-4 years of isu basketball have looked like.

Please save us Mr pedon!!

Watched from home on the television. I don't think I've ever seen a crew of referees choose to swallow the whistle more than this crew did today, especially in the first half. Both teams probably should have been in the double bonus with about 4 minutes to play that half, and some of the "missed" calls...on both teams...were clearly fouls. Probably didn't make a difference in the outcome of the game, but interesting they decided to "let them play" to the point of making me wonder if they were simply going to let teams start making their own calls at some point in time like you would in a pickup game outside Manchester Hall.
