We are 231st in tempo which is possessions per game. Not sure if we slow it down because we don't shoot well or scared of turnovers but we might shoot better if we had better tempo on offense.

Adj Offensive Possession takes into account offensive possessions so we very inefficient even with this tempo

What was the technical on
Ask the PA guy. Sad. His voice is a jumble of mumble in the upper bowl, but it this case he didn't think it necessary to mention I guess. Not impressed

Burford fixed his shot. Mal seems to be coming around too. They were a combined 0-8 in the first half but were 11-20 overall 🤘

Davis was a pleasant surprise today

Rough game for Johnny

Foster was solid. And thanks to the Bizon screamers for helping him improve his FT average.

We won by 10. We're still in 1st place in conference. A ref almost got Burkholtz'd A good day

Loyola use to play long possessions but was very efficient on offense. We are not.

If I was the opposing coach

1. I would double Foster and force him to pass out or go for steal when he puts the ball on the floor. I would not let him keep dribbling and use his body.
2. Take away Burford penetration ... sag sag sag. Deny him ball as clock winds down... see #3
3. Force certain players to beat them as 20 sexond clock winds down

Our next opponent, SE Missouri, is not very good defensively this year. Hopefully another game to work on this offense.

Good to see that after last game, we were able to guard their leading scorer, Thomas a lot better. Cut down on the fouls too 😉

I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but Ryan Schmitt is still my teacher's pet. I am convinced he would give us some offense because of big man skill and his eyes. I'm not saying he's a great player because he isn't...but the ball moves better with him on the floor. Not sure he could effectively pull off the big man flash& recover up top on D, though. If Brandon doesn't show us something sooner rather than later, I'd be all for Schmitt getting 5-10 minutes a game. I see such potential in the impact Brandon can give us, though, on both sides of the ball! However, I'm beginning to wonder if it's not gonna happen. I'd like to see the impact one solid game on both sides of the ball, as a big man, would do for his confidence moving forward.

Our coach said he likes to run an offense through his big men. Our big men, Miles and Lieb are averaging less than 2 Assts per game. Our offense has no flow. That’s why I like to see us push the ball so that we DONT get into our offense set.
This is why I'd like to see Schmitt play in place of Brandon at times. Myles is strong like bull (and we need him!) and definitely has a knack for the ball rebounding-wise...but has eyes like the crosseyed Steve Buscemi once he hits the lane. He's not gonna find an open man.

Yessir, but boy do we need an effective offensive set. 7-4 and 2-0 is CERTAINLY better than last few yrs, though.

Maybe they turned the speakers off in the upper bowl like they did the lights.

Our defense and rebounding are much improved from last year. If we ignite the audience we can compete in the MVC.

Indiana St and Drake are the clear favorites right now. Everyone else is begging to play on Thurday and give ISU a bye.

It's not uncommon for Foster to get doubled, though. Hek I've seen a 3 man collapse on him a number of times this year.

I will say this. We're finding ways to win. It ain't pretty or efficient, which is dangerous and frankly makes me cringe...but we are definitely getting better in that dept. I honestly don't have much of a clue in how all this translates into the meat of The Valley. If we compete at a .500 clip or a smidge better in conf play, that would leave us with 17 or 18 wins going into StL. That's a long ways from last year.

But. A. Long. Way. To. Go. Also...I appreciate the way our young men represent Illinois State University. Thank you gentleman. I'd LOVE IT if you helped Kentucky take a dump right on the floor of Rupp Arena.
