Great game overall. I echo what Pops Said that the ball stopped moving and that allowed them to get back in it. But this is a group that’s starting to learn how to win and that’s fun to see.

Win Wednesday and the Horton atmosphere is going to be off the charts.

A road win and protecting the casa with what sounded like (for a good stretch at least) improving in plenty of the areas I was sort of grumbling about internally. Looking forward to doing my amateur scout on the replay (got stuck changing sister's car battery) but gotta feel pretty o.k. as we continue to grow. The oddities of the other stuff around the league (BU and UNI hiccups? Sycs maybe an upstart, SIU maybe more than I thought) might make this one of those "any given nights" kinda Valley seasons.

I would stick with this starting lineup until they show it doesn't work. Very nice starts to each half and with this team it is imperative that we get out of the blocks early. How many times last year did we dig ourselves into a 10 pt hole in first 10 minutes? A LOT. Our tempo was better, too, which I appreciate. The ball has to find itself inside (whether guard or interior player) for us to be effective. When we get into 3 pt line extended 3-4 man weave boopsy bop we have a very hard time getting a good shot. Overall, this is the first time in a long time that I've walked out of CEFCU Redbird Arena feeling pretty good. Now...can we get on a roll?? Great opportunity to do so into the Kentucky game.

BTW taking into account the last several years, it actually was a good crowd. Right at 4000. Can't believe I'm calling 4000 a good crowd.

Still waiting for Lieb to produce offensively...I am hopeful it happens. Tyler Pence, in my mind, gained a bit of confidence today...which he desperately needs. It's not his physical skills, it's the head. I think he can be a really good player - with time.

Burford's bucket with about 15 seconds left is the kind of "go to guy" moment we needed. One guy who was just not going to be denied a shot that he can make.
I was a little worried when they iso'd him considering he bobbled the ball on the previous two possessions, but he was money

A road win? A home win? 2-0? Fradley is 0-2? First place?

Yes!
I think Pence will progress as the season moves on!
You can tell Peadon is sticking with him and showing him confidence. My guess he does well in practice.

Think Foster might have a chance to be all MVC
Myles is a paradox. Obviously he's strong like bull and a GOOD rebounder and important to our team. When he gets the ball underneath, though, he loses all concept of the court and his teammates...which is probably my biggest pet peeve in all of basketball - not seeing the court. Yet he does find a way to score. Would like to hear Pemberton's view of him.

i get it...just going to take time that includes some serious winning to get peeps back. also gotta factor in the opponent...not like anyone circles murray when the redbird calendar released.

overall not a pretty game but got the another much needed w and ended a losing streak (vs murray). hopefully we can end that 10 game siu losing streak in one of our upcoming mvc games.
We beat SIU last year at home and SIU in SIU the COVID year. Not sure if you are referring to someone else in the 10 game streak. I know UNI has won like 9 in a row or something like that against us.

agree- when the Birds got the ball to the paint, good things happen including kick outs. We now have a couple of true 5’s and true 4’s playing in position. Helps if they are around the basket

Attendance: 3,946. Had a great turnout in sections 110-112 from the black Friday discount. It really is sad we can't fill those with students.

I can tell you one thing ... Mr Pemberton (and me) doesn't like when Myles shoots the 3.

We finished strong in the paint again shooting 58% from 2. 18 assists to 10 TO .... awesome. We had good looks from 3 but just convered at an avaerage rate. We even scored on inbounds play and was fouled on another (now that's progress).

Defensively we really played well on their 3 primary scorers. Anderson, who averages 5.3 coming off the bench, lit us up again for the second straight time at Redbird. He might want to transfer here to get more games at CEFCU!!

Pence looked better and I think is on the verge of being a contributor which would help. We could use another player with his build.

Northern Kentucky has won 4 games in a row but the game is winnable. No more let downs against Horizon opponents please!! 5 games at home ... 1 win down 4 to go.
