Always heard it was best to take care of those on same day. Of course, "Dr." Hulka told me that.

No PUI's here pal. Blow a .08 and you're breaking the PostingUndertheInfluence statutes of redbirdfan.net. I know these things, cause TP told me.

Evans cannot guard Hill

Evans may be one of the worst starting five MVC guards as respects to defense last year and this year up until game time so this is no surprise. ISU may be better bringing Evans off the bench if they want to go much further??? Chastain as offensively oriented as Evans has been playing and brings much more on the defensive end so let’s start the game with chastain in the game and Evans on the bench

I follow some players on IG and some came off very determined & motivated in those Q&A things. One player was asked “how does it feel to play on Thursday night” and answered “we’re winning 4 in a row”.

The answers were so good, I was surprised how bad the team looked. Of course winning ugly doesn’t matter if they sweep the week.

Evansville was the aggressor in the 1st half and the fouls went their way and so did the bounces and the opposite happened in the 2nd half. The fouls wound up 22-19 with EU having more, but at least 3 of those and I think more were intentional near the end of the game.

I think back to the 12-0 run by EU. Rey missed a 3 footer, we missed 3 front ends and Phil missed about a 4 footer on the baseline. Turnovers were few, if any. We should have lost 2-4 points off of the lead and not 12.

BBIQ is still so lacking and not just from one guy. Evans is maybe the leader in dumb plays, but he is not dominating that category. A lob with the lead with a minute and a half left. WTH?

Baltimore Bird is in town and heading to the LOU! We did what we had to do. GO BIRDS!

I hope Jefferson and Gassman hit some 3s against Drake. I don’t think we will see much accuracy from Keyshawn, Copeland and Tinsley. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

ISU will need everyone to contribute to go the distance. Hope they got their bad game out of their system for this weekend. Last night’s opponent was the good time to do that. Of course, Tinsley didn’t even take a shot, so still waiting for his heat check.

If talk mattered then ISU would have won the Valley this year.

Well, with some of the lineups we threw out there I don’t even think that was our worst stretch. I get Dan trying to rest, but the first half was a disaster with substitutions. Fayne and Milik should never both be off the floor at the same time.

Okay, so I sat on last nights game and I came away with the following:

PROS

- We won the game and did so with MY sitting on 4 fouls for effectively the entire last quarter of the game.
-Phil Fayne was off offensively and still dropped a double double plus 3 blocks. If we win again, it is because of him.
-Matt Chastain has zero quit in him. None. If he can get more comfortable with his shot, he will be among our most important players for the rest of his career.
-Josh Jefferson seems to have found his stroke again.
-Crunch time free throws put Eville away. We hit them when it really mattered. Keyshawn and MY specifically.
- Fan support. Even is what was a hot garbage Thursday game, the fans were good and loud for the birds.

CONS

-Shooting. Just in general. Be it 4 feet or 40, the birds back court, more times than not, couldn't throw a basketball into the ocean from a boat. Teams are going to keep doubling Phil Fayne and making our guards beat them. If MY is off for a full game, that ain't gonna happen.
- Game Management. Dan, bruh. Please stop a run at 6 with a TO, not 10. Further, notice when you have a hot offensive hand and play it. I understand that JJ isn't the best man to man defender, but if he is hitting 3s, leave him in.
- Keyshawn Evans, outside of his clutch FTs in the last 3 min, was just awful. He looks completely lost out there and should in no way be starting if we have any other serviceable guards on the bench.
- Dumb fouls. Stop being dumb. Don't foul a guy who is shooting a prayer 3 pointer from 32 feet with 20 seconds left. Also, don't try to be superman and strip a ball while laying on the floor.
- MY taking long jumpers instead of driving the lane. DUDE! Nobody in the league can defend you when you drive. Take it to the hoop every time. Get contact and get those starting bigs in foul trouble.

The key for tonight is to get one or two threes to fall from Copeland, JJ or Evans and pull the defenders out of the paint then let MY and Fayne create havoc in it. You aren't going to beat Drake in a 3 point contest, but you will beat them in the paint.

At least other players stepped up to fill the void. We went from Big 3-1/2 to Big 2, with disappearance of Evans and Tinsley.
