Hard to know who to pick in this one. On the same night we take down the Trees, UE was a half-court heave away from taking DU to overtime. We are erratic, even more so at CEFCU. Has this staff/roster figured something out, or was Tuesday an aberration stemming from Foster/Lewis boarding and Kinziger shooting out of their minds, plus the Sycamores putting on a Redbird'esque-type performance from the field. Purple Aces have already taken the road portion of this year's series and we looked, well, less than good.

I think that is what everyone is asking. The best way to find out is to go to CEFCU, let five years of frustration out your system, and help blow the over-used roof off of the arena.

Here's to hoping It's the former and Sunday can be a catalyst to re-engaging the fans!!

I hope we see a great crowd and if that happens this becomes a must win game. I think the light bulb went on for Johnny at halftime of the siu game. He has been so aggressive the last three halves. Honestly it reminds me of Nic Moore when he put it together down the stretch. I think this game we see Chase and Foster dominate under the basket, Mal his three threes and Johnny with 18. If Burford and Davis are back it will only help. If those two are back I would like to see Davis in for Banks in the starting 5. Just get people to the arena and play some good ball and give the fans hope.

Certainly the win over Indy State on the road was spectacular. Realistically it was caused by a lot of factors - horrid three point shooting by the home team, but good defense on our end and a game of the year performance by Johnny. Pedon’s signature win so far. Now, can we actually win at home and build some momentum. This program has been stuck in the one step forward and two steps back mode for quite some time. Time to start stringing a couple of games together. Momentum in front of the home crowd at RA would be so big. I watched the end of the Drake game the other night and Evansville played right with them play for play. They are not an easy out anymore. Much improved and a tougher mindset over there with the new staff. This won’t be easy, but we have to find a way. The RA/campus fan base needs this one! Good ball movement, tough D, heady rebounding by Foster and Lewis and stay with the hot hand in Johnny.

Coming off a huge win + ticket deal that might bring out a pretty decent crowd + a winnable game against a scrappy team = disaster.

Unless...

...we remember to show up and don't pee in our own Cheerios this time.

Sooner or later we'll start to un-suck at home. Maybe it'll happen Sunday.

The last 3 halves this team has played at an entirely different level and I am hoping they turned a corner.

-Prior to SIU, Pedon said that the team had a meeting and he said that if this program was to turn the corner after a year and a half that the players needed to grab control and let it be theirs. That the players needed to take charge and if they didn't start then we would continue to have this 1 foot forward, 2 steps back as a program . They needed to talk more and communicate more. 2nd half of SIU, we saw more communicating from the team.
-On WJBC yesterday afternoon Pedon said prior to Indy State he had the team do a homework assignment and watch the ESPN 30 FOR 30 on Buster Douglas. The team then spoke about it and Buster Douglas called the team for a 15 minute zoom conversation and the message was basically they needed this, "I don't give a F attitude". That they need to bring it and attack for 40 minutes.

Not sure how Sunday is going to go but after a big program win and without football it looks like we will have one of the bigger crowds that we have had in a few years. Players, students and fans come out with energy and build off of Tuesday. Play with that "I don't give a F attitude" and you build fans to come back, you build young fans to ask to come back.

Makes sense, Buster Douglas is a Columbus Ohio guy.

Sunday is also Senior Day (as it is the last weekend home date of the regular season).

Redbirds will honor Lewis, Schmitt, and Stadelman.
Surprised they aren’t honoring all the seniors. Some of these guys are going to graduate in May, and while they maintain eligibility, it seems strange to me that they are ignoring them.

Johnny K needs 11 points to hit the 200 point mark as a Freshman.

There are numerous players in the 1,000 club who did not score 200 points in their Freshman season. But, a few of the points in a season by a Redbird Freshman - not an all-inclusive list:
465 - Tarise Bryson
374 - Billy Lewis
349 - Nic Moore
323 - Ronnie Jones
310 - Gregg Alexander
295 - Osiris Elridge
267 - Richard Thomas
227 - Paris Lee
222 - Antonio Reeves
