Reeves also had the means to train in the summer to get better. Not saying he didn't put the work in, but someone had to paid for helping with his skill development.

And our players don’t?

After Reeves sophomore year he did go down to Miami and train with trainers prepping kids hoping to have a shot at the next level. Someone had to pay for that. Not all working out is limited to lifting weights and putting up shots. Skill development and shooting mechanics ain't going be taught at the local Y with all the peewee kids.

I think it's a combination of someone paying for it but you also have to be invited to attend these things as well. In addition to working on skills, there is a lot of competition playing structured pickup games.
