Did some digging . . .

I’m really disappointed in the lack of diversity. Not terribly impressed, but I’m not sure what more I could want. Other than more diversity.
Thanks for digging. God bless them all, who am I to criticize - was hoping for more, not sure what, but more (more diversity would have been nice too I guess). Gotta say if I'm looking for a program to "be like" given where we are right now, I'll pick Utah. That guy is heavy on the fundraising and capital projects. I don't know . . . .

Well, the Ex CMU football player would probably be a good one for helping boost our football program here.

Good find.
I'm pleased with the candidates. Two of the four are supervising Power 5 football programs and they've been a part of major fundraising operations with positive results.

Agreed.

Read a little about the woman from Cal-Riverside, and while there's some to "worry" about - no football program, etc. - she sounds like she may be a "strong leader". She's got some impressive administrative accomplishments in her background. And it took a while for me to click in on who Tom MIchael is/was - Illini hoops player - there's something to be said about having a "home town guy", knows the lay of the land in Illinois, the budget challenges, etc. Not sure one could point to EIU as a rising school or anything, but he could be okay, presumably sees ISU as a step up from EIU.

Interesting that 3 of the 4 are from the west, 2 from Pac 12. No one from Big 10+ interested in us?

Whoever gets the AD job will have their work cut out for them. We have ticket holders and potential donors that are still smarting from the Kurt Beathard dismissal and the assault on Larry Lyons. This unversity talks about diversity while displaying intolerance and aggression towards diversity of thought and speech.

I'm more of a tangibles person. I want an AD that will lead to get things built and help teams win on the field of play. If you want to talk about intangibles like establishing a culture then fine let's talk about that too. What will the new AD be willing to do to combat the culture of intolerance that has enveloped Illinois State Unversity?

Tom Micheal has seen how it is to work for the have and the have nots. Working for a Big Ten School that continues to upgrade athletic facilities during a pandemic. AD at EIU that was on the verge of closing its doors 3 years ago. Regardless of who gets the job...they will need the support of the new President. Maybe we should be more concerned if we can find another Bowman!

Kurt Beathard and Larry Lyons. Maybe you weren't paying attention when all that happened or maybe it's just willful denial.
No need to be a dick about it. I'm looking for more than just a summary comment with nothing to back it up. Are you talking about Lyons' all athletes matter comment and Beathard's door sign? And are you saying the university treated them poorly, or that they were the examples of intolerance and difference of thought?

Ha - You absolutely know that my response was appropriate. You come on here acting all coy asking a question that we both know you know the answer to because I've explained it to you before. Whatever

Tell you what. Let's give this a break until the new AD is hired. After that if you want me to break it down for you again I'll do it - again.

Honestly, do you really believe I spend all my time thinking about what other posters have said about something that happened a few months ago? It wasn't coy, it was trying to figure out what you were talking about, and then what your opinions were on the items you mentioned.

But thank you for reminding me how wrong you were/are. No need for the break down . . . it'll still be wrong.

So you can't hold an explanation in your brain for a few months? Ok sure, you're right, there is no point in explaining it again.

To be fair to Tommy, he inherited a football coach who was just hired prior to his arrival. Think his hire Cushing will be able to get the program back at the top of the OVC unless the State of Illinois budget woes again trickles down to state colleges.
