That's pretty stupid by that fan base over there. Internet tough guys trying to be real tough guys often does not translate and roping the actual University in on it? Dude.

I like to think that our craziness stops with me on the "Everything is great" bandwagon and Mark or ISU Fan 1 on the "Sky is falling" bandwagon, but none of us are going after eachother... .. except maybe Jigga.

I hate to see any fan site go.

Looks consistent with most things happening at SIU recently which is not good. I read something where the SIU incoming fall freshman class is projected to possibly be less than a 1,000 students... for comparison I believe ISU 2017 fall incoming freshman class was around 3300. If that is the case it will also dramatically impact the athletic department as SIU athletics, like ISU and other MVC team's athletics, are heavily subsidized by student fees. When it rains it pours.

Related: President Dietz went in front of the state education board the other day and politely asked where the hell our money is. ISU is getting about 55 cents to every dollar all other state institutions get per student (including U of I, which is about half out of state/international students). What is amazing is that ISU is still one of two financially stable Universities in the state even with this.

http://wglt.org/post/isu-gets-less-state-support-student-any-other-public-campus-illinois#stream/0

In total, the state has deferred up to FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS worth of ISU owed tax dollars to other projects over the last couple decades. $500,000,000.

ISU can do very well being what it is at it's current pace, but if you ever wanted to step up and build a Law, Engineering or Medicine program at Illinois State to bring it to the next level, you are going to need the state to start chipping into one of it's two top state universities.

Sorry... got off topic there.

I don't know all the details, but interesting to see a fan board actually getting mixed up in a situation with the university itself. Curious if there have been any discussions on here that have drawn the attention of anybody within ISU.

What does he know about starting a board??

There's a new soft ware program called Cialis that might help getting a board going. I do hear that they can only get a board going for less than 4 hours though, then it goes down most times.

And if by chance the board does keep going for longer than 4 hours, you must see the Doctor.

So let me give me own personal thoughts here.

First, I've talked to exactly ONE person the ISU AD office and that was about the ticket exchange. He didn't seem to know much, if anything about the board. I have no idea if Lyons, Dan, Brock or anyone else in the AD knows or reads about the board much. In my analytics, I can't tell like what building or area ISU traffic comes from. Just that it's a computer on ISU's network. Could be a student, coach, professor, whatever.

I would never ever want to get involved with the actual operations of ISU athletics while representing this message board. At that point, I would be taking this thing way to serious. To think we have any power other than there are a thousand of us or so is ridiculous. To say something like "We are redbirdfan.net! Hear us roar!" is just stupid.

At this time, in the agreement when you sign up is anything about people "outing" each other without permission, but I've thought about adding that. I think that would be a huge hit to the site and cause a lot of people to lose trust in the members here. I hope and pray that never happens.

If you ever have questions about the goings on or anything else site related, please reach out. I'd rather have a dialogue then get surprised with something.

This is entertainment for all of us. Entertainment.

No one in athletics admin pays attention to this board. If I were AD and found out one of my peers was even perusing the board, I'd fire them immediately with a public explanation as to why.

I'm not saying there aren't good ideas here. There most certainly ARE good ideas, and some healthy donors here. But make no mistake. No one in the know pays attention. This is simply entertainment for us.

Now, we may have a few moles here who, perhaps, are friends with people in admin...who maybe know a little more than what they should know and somehow that info gets passed along in a roundabout way to this board.

Even with that, sometimes all we're doing is playing an adult version of TheTelephoneGame.

I disagree.

I don't think they come on here looking for ideas. But I do think they come on here from time to time to get a feel about the fan base.
