Also seems to be our only guard who can drink around someone.

I'll hand it to ya there. When the lightbulb comes on and he drives the lane right into 4 guys who are trees then tosses a floater over the backboard - he does look like he's been drinking. Gotta be to show balls like that!!

I'm rooting for ya, Matt. :!: Keep getting better.

I think y'all are misreading the original post in this thread; it never said that two players would not be back.......it said that two names will not be back. There was a time when Cassius Clay never came back to the boxing ring, and a time when Lew Alcindor did not come back to the Milwaukee Bucks.

If you can’t see what Matt brings to the table then something is wrong with ya. He’s a ringer for most Ben Jacobson teams. Glad he brought all that “heart” here.

And one of their fans thinks they should be considered for an NIT bid over us, because in his misguided opinion, the Gargoyles were the second best team in the MVC. No sens of reality whatsoever and a complete refusal to acknowledge the embarrassing weakness of the BU noncon Schedule.

That is a joke. The combination of the Bradley scheduling/record validates the superiority argument the P5s' use against the lower conferences.

If anyone goes, my money is on Elijah and Romine.

Elijah needs to not give up and stick with it. He will be a star in the MVC someday.

I agree, Elijah just needs to continue working. With his raw athletic ability his time will come.

Fifth in conference.
Best non-conference opponent was Vermont.
Best non-conference win was Georgia Southern.

They did take a step forward this past season, but not THAT big!

From the ISU website, Muller doesn't see Milik as a 'grad transfer candidate'. He'll most likely get some pro workouts, and he's encouraging him to do so, to get feedback, etc. He also said Matt Chastain's scholarship has still not been determined. They are looking for a few JC type players next year, a "big" man (hope he meant big vs tall) and a shooting type guard. Seems like if they do land one of those then it might come at the expense of Chastain. I don't know how he ranks Gassman vs Chastain. He also said Copeland will be a "huge" part of next years team, as he would have been this year. As far as scheduling goes, he's going to rethink how he does it since it doesn't seem to help to play tough non-conf games as he feels the ncaa didn't really care too much.

Knowing the only way to ever get a bid these days will be winning the Arch, You may as well still schedule up.
At the very least, it serves to prepare us well should we ever get to the NCAA’s.

It’s obvious that the NCAA will change the bar every year to Lee the mids out as much as possible . Look what they did to us last year and perhaps more egregiously what they did to St Mary’s this year. Comments on Copeland support what I had been told about him. Same for Yarbrough...he will test the waters but will come back. A JC BIG as in muscle would be huge

Wait what? The exact opposite has been proven. Losses to good teams don't matter, wins against mediocre or bad teams don't matter. Only wins vs quality teams. Which means schedule has hard as you possibly can since you have nothing to lose. Gonzaga uses this model every year and gets great seeds even though they play in an average conference.

What did he mean that it "doesn't seem to help"? We didn't play a tough non-conference schedule last year and Loyola didn't this year. I thought the takeaway was to schedule up if you want any shot at an at large bid.

Dan's right. The pathetic little committe couldn't care less about wins over new mexico, st josephs, mississippi, etc unless you are a P5 team. You better go clean or win the conference tourney if you're a mid-major.

How so? ISU last year and Loyola, St Mary's and Mid Tennessee this year prove you can't get an at large without a number of Quadrant I wins.

Before long all mid majors will go the way of Mike Davis' Texas Southern and have 13 non conference road games against mostly P6s. Although, TS is doing so for money, also. 13 Q1 & 2 games. You could go 4-7 and that looks good to the committee. But, then they'll say 7 losses is too many for mid majors even though they did what they were told to do.

He was probably referring to middle tenn state and their 10th rated non conference sos this year.

If the quadrants ever cost a P5 a bid in favor of a mid-major, the metric will be recalibrated to ensure extra slack for the big boys.

This year's selection process contained even more fun shenanigans for committee because they also had to find a convenient way to exclude all three FBI scandal-implicated bubble teams while also still slamming door on mid-majors. No easy feat, but they were up to the task.

Completely agree DP Dough - plus, throw in the "influence" of CBS - which always wants Syracuse no matter what, and the marketable Trae Young, even though his team fell apart in the second half. They of course, Bobby Hurley - since is from New Jersey and was a star at Duke - makes for good PR on the East Coast. NCAA sold its soul to Greed - long ago.
