Are we really excited about the potential of winning 2-3 games out of 7 against the mvc bottom feeders?
No, my preference is to see the Redbird mens basketball history post on EVERY game thread! Wait, that already hapeens!

EVERYBODY knows it, and you are seeing little, if any at all, arguing for the recent performance (especially post-2017). Most acknowledge that, unless something unforeseen happens, it is not a question of if but exactly when the trigged can/will be pulled; however, not every game discussion needs to devolve into a #canDan diatribe.

Now, if you want to discuss actual ways to either get the money and/or where the money is to buyout that contract, that is new territory. Unless/until that happens, consider your point conveyed ... over, and Over, and OVER, again.

Lets take away 3G Era.

1. The 14 NCAA appearance got to 7 .. Similar to ISU's 6
2. They went 18 years consecutibe without an NCAA appearance ... sound familiar
3. Part of their rich history was on 64 and 65 (the other final four ) before ISU was even a D1 school. So maybe we should discard those appearances
4. Since ISU was D1 school, I would say only the Gene Smithson/Ed Fogler era (79 to 86) and (87 to 89) produced any substantial results. I guess Turgeon had one good year.

Marshall put them back on the map.amd was the game changer. Kudos to them but their rich history prior to that looks very similar to ISU. I have not done the math but I am willing to bet if you look at the years ISU was a D1 school and throw out Marshall years ... iSU has more wins and NCAA appearances.

So...take away 40 years of WSU basketball history and we are kinda, but not really even. Sad. If we had a Sweet 16 appearance in 2006, all of us would still be wearing the t-shirt around every weekend! But we don't.

I’m not unrealistic! I would settle for every 7-10 years an NCAA appearance. I would pay coaches based on wins and bonus them on post season success. Before you say I wouldn’t get a coach to play for me because that wouldn’t be enough...it look like the average mid major coach makes around $300,000 a year. It’s simple- make the dance and you make $700,000 to $1,000,000. That’s also based on attendance.

Not sure where you got that information, but according to the Springfield News-Leader (Missouri State investing less money in men's hoops coaches than most schools in Valley) here is what they believe the Valley consists of:

Illinois State
Head coach Dan Muller — $564,000
Associate head coach Brian Jones — $140,004
Assistant coach Brian Reese — $111,976 *
Assistant coach Marcus Belcher — $110,004
Total assistant pay — $361,984
Total coaching staff pay in 2019-20 — $925,984
* According to Illinois Public Salaries Database

Indiana State
Head coach Greg Lansing — $219,000
Assistant coach Terry Parker — $70,183
Assistant coach Brett Carey — $86,063
Assistant coach Kareem Richardson — **

* Belcher left to be an assistant at Illinois State following the 2018-19 season
** New assistant coach

Missouri State
Head coach Dana Ford — $386,558 in 2019-20; $425,000 in 2020-21 through 2022-23

Northern Iowa
Head coach Ben Jacobson — $900,000

They did not have complete listings for the privates, but the only head coaches below $300,000 (at the time) were Evansville, Indiana State and Valparaiso ... and this was as of 2019.

I just looked at all mid majors today. No doubt Jacobson and Porter will have some decent money. Porter has been to the final 4 and Jacobson always seems to be in the dance. I typed in average mid major coaching salary. Of course you would have to allocate salaries for assistants.

Losers that can’t perform at their job are the ones feeling sorry for a pitiful coach!
nice pivot ~ discussions about the if/when pulling the trigger is fiscally an option does not necessarily equate to sympathy. Nice touch on the name calling, though.

I didn't see you whining about Bombay's "losers" comment. Apparently, you have to be in the "A" crowd around here to be able to use that word.
