going back and looking at his HS tape and reading more about his HS career..........Jefferson is very talented IMO.

confidence and reps are key IMO. the young man can throw the ball and is athletic. im excited to see him throw the ball more this weekend.

I saw him play his sophomore year of high school and thought he was going to be really good. I spoke with his coach who told me he was visiting Notre Dame the next day. I thought he would likely end up higher that FCS but Illinois State was a great fit for him. ISU did alright the last time they had an Indianapolis quarterback (Tre Roberson). Jefferson has the potential to be as good.

We really just got a glimpse of Jefferson on Saturday. He did not throw much but when he did it seemed to be with good accuracy. The TD pass obviously could not have been thrown better. He looked effective running the ball as well. It would be good to see the backup running backs get a few more carries but in the end, Robinson was tearing SEMO up and the O-line was knocking their defense back. Why would you do anything differently when it was so obvious SEMO could not stop it. The Birds did not have to show much else besides #25 and that may be a good thing. Central Arkansas was certainly watching but they did not really see much besides a big strong O-Line knocking big holes for the best running back in FCS. They know Edgar is a threat but the Birds did not have to show much else to put SEMO away.
With a solid game under his belt I think Jefferson will be more of a factor. The coaching staff should have more confidence in him now. It was very apparent they did not have that type of confidence in him prior to Saturdays game. Good on Jefferson for stepping up with a lot of pressure on him. I am looking for another strong performance against UCA.

the throw the Edgar was nice and a big relief to see in so many ways ... for Jefferson, for Edgar, for the offense, for the game .. just huge. But my favorite pass play was a simple throw to TE MItchell Lewis (2 catches).. he seemed to look off 2 options before quickly deciding to throw a 7 yard dart to Lewis ... he looked like a veteran.

Not going to get ahead of myself over one game with 7 passes, and I thought he would have run a few more times .... but Jefferson was so composed all game, even if we didn't ask him to do a lot himself .. he managed the game very very well. Composure his huge and Spack commented in press conference, he thinks Jefferson is too laid back sometimes. This week will be interesting to see unfold with a "slightly more seasoned" Jefferson, a healthy Edgar, and a possibly re-rejuvenated Robinson, and possibly same for our OL ... going to be interesting to see how our run game works against a bigger defense.
