Like ... nobody is defending Muller. Nor have they been outside of one poster.
If you want ISU to get back to relevancy…you would be pushing for ISU to make a change. It doesn’t take a pro scout to see ISU needs to make a change!

Maybe, but those saying we don’t have the buyout money can’t see the forest through the trees.
I mean, Muller has dragged this program into oblivion. So much so that, outside of the twenty or so fans on this board, no one even cares anymore.

I just cannot believe 27 voters think he is safe already. Unfortunately this is redbird basketball right now. Unbelievable

Missed layups and ft down the stretch lost the game. Also, 2 guys have to be able box out on the last fatal rebound.

Thinking he is safe does not equal wanting him to stay. I will repeat what many of us have said the last several years but some just cannot calculate the reality beyond their short tempered flare ups that cloud their vision and common sense. Follow the money. The reason many voted he was safe was because a rare buyout by a university not drowning in the largess of wealthy donors is hard to fathom at a 400k price tag. That is the main reason he has lasted this long. We all see the need for a change but it will take some bankroll to make that happen even at the end of the year. Some people just do not have the capability of being able to concentrate on more than one thing at a time. Many have chosen to hope for change at the same time cheering and commenting on the team. All at the same time. Others cannot find it within themselves to be multifaceted in this regard because of their parochial lens concentrating to only choose to be listless for a passion they masquerade but comically zealous only for the status of a certain head coach. DM would be rich if he charged rent for the occupancy he has taken up in some people’s heads. Maybe the administration will find the dollars to make a change but 400k is a chunk of change for ISU. Capital projects aside, maybe they will conclude that they cannot afford not to and find the funds to pay two coaches at the same time. We shall see.

If I'm not mistaken his buy out is 1.2 million after this year I believe. He is getting I think 600k per year, and he has two years left on the deal after this year.

Please.
If $400,000 in a “chunk of change” for ISU, then we have much bigger problems than an ass-backwards embarrassing basketball program.

It does ultimately come down to money but the $1 million to buy him out after this season is only half the equation. Not that long ago we had to be averaging 6k fans a game. Being down 2000 fans a game conservatively over the course of a season is a lot of money in ticket and concessions being lost.

The main problem is there isn’t any improvement. When you have 3 straight below .500 seasons and then this season looks to be a 4th- what makes a person to believe that next season is going to be any better. The season ticket holders are only going to dwindle- because there isn’t any success to stop the bleeding.

I’m sorry. $1million seems like pocket change for a D1 athletic dept. His departure should be a no brainer. Only reason he stays is if he somehow wins 4 games in ST Louis.

I have higher expectations for this program. Our AD is going to send the fan base a message at the end of the year if this about $ or relevancy. That’s a fact.

I fully support a coaching change as we are now in the abyss of mediocrity. And with Murray State and Belmont coming into the MVC, we are doomed to to be a lowly second division team within our own conference. I’ve followed the Birds since 1970-71 and the last several years have been an embarrassment, especially in comparison to the relative competitiveness of Bradley. The subject of team identity has come up in several past posts and I agree the team is without one. Now even my grandkids no longer want to see a game.

All we have to know about this situation is that Muller refuses to step down. Think about it! He is and has been a disaster for ISU; but he is either a) too slow to recognize that or, b) realizes that his D1 coaching career after ISU is nonexistent and he’s going to bilk the University and fans for all he can before he’s forced out. A decent human being that had some self respect and cared for his alma mater and fans would have resigned last year. But Muller is still here; bleeding ISU and setting the mens program back years. This is not a nice guy. This is a selfish grifter.

If you can spend 13 million on an athletic facility- you can spend 1 million on a buyout. I’m not saying the facility isn’t needed either. It would be a lame excuse if it’s the million.

I must have missed that press conference. Is there a link to a replay?
