Amazingly, I think even with our crash and rebuild we're already ahead of NAU's football fan board. I haven't found any active sites for the Lumberjacks ahead of our game in October.

I did see that the Pluto app (Free TV) now has the Big Sky network. Caught a few minutes of NAU football replay over the weekend. They looked competitive for sure, but lost that Game to E. Wash. Their wooden dome looks pretty cool.

By the way is there a MVC network? If so It being on Pluto would be great idea!

might be harder to post at that elevation.

Quick scouting report on this game .. we have to be prepared for elevation. Their offense will be good passing wise for sure .. thir stud QB got injured early last season. Their defense will be very very suspect ... lost a lot of senior starters and we'rent that good on defense last year.

So we will have to slow the game down, chew up first downs and time, and pound it down their throats with run game and high % short-medium pass game. This is our game 5 in week 6 .. must win road game for moving up ranking.

A heads up on the Northern Arizona game. Athletics is debating buying more tickets for their "Away Team" section.

They started with 100 tickets and so far WSF donors have taken 73 of the tickets. This does not take into account the almost 3,000 alumni in Arizona + others that live in California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, etc. that the game should get marketed to.

If you are a WSF donor and are planning on going to the game I would recommend buying your tickets soon. Otherwise, besides the NAU student section, the West side of the stands are General Admission like Hancock.

their offense will be tough, at least passing, with return of stud QB. Like most of Big Sky, they like to throw .. 2-1 pass-run ratio. They ranked 9th in FCS in total offensive yards per game .. impressive, but Big Sky doesn't play as much defense. They had 5 of top 13 offenses (NCAA) .. of those 5 , only EWU made playoffs.

But their defense will have a lot of trouble getting off the field. They lost 6.9 starters off a defense that ranked 82nd in FCS. There were 7 more Big Sky teams ranked lower than NAU in total defense ... which explains how they have 5 top offensives, most of whom don't make playoffs.

Chicken or egg with stats like these .. is it great offense .. bad defense .. or some of both. But other than EWU, Big Sky has not done well in playoffs in a while with their offensive emphasis. Got to be able to run ball when weather gets cold for playoffs, and play some defense.

How do you lose .9 of a starter? This is a serious question.

How do you lose .9 of a starter? This is a serious question.

the guy who pulled all the data counted both stats for offense (carries, catches, throws, games started) and defense (tackles, games started) for each position group. So if the Senior Left Tackle only started 10 of 11 games due to injury, his replacement got credit for 0.9 starts.

So offensive skill positions had 2+ metrics per position .. for example, a RB gets credit for carries, starts, and catches. Whereas an OL can only get credit for starts. Defensively, they all get credit for starts and tackles.

Really cool what this guy did to track how much each team lost in starts and stats. The stuff gets wonky for sure, but it is best way to measure and compare what teams lost .. hope that helped clarify.

Note, NAU stud QB was injured about 4 games into season ... so losing their back-up who started the other 7 is misleading in this case .. NAU is getting their starter back.
