They'll run, which will run clock.

We'll run, because of our o-line.

I expect this to be lower scoring than most think. But we cover.

If we continue to do our job stopping the run we can make them one dimensional.

Their QB completes only 48% of his throws and that won't get it done especially if we keep them behind the chains on 3rd down.

Hopefully the team is staying focused and having a great week of practice. Again.........I like the chances of some big strikes on play action after James and Markel get lathered up. I think Haley will draw a lot of single coverage and he will have the opportunity to rebound from a rough game last week.

weather looks good from what i can tell. should be a fun atmosphere. Bears have a really nice stadium in my opinion.

I'm getting excited about Romeo McKnight. I guess he was dinged up a bit this year but he's finally healthy and had two sacks vs CSU. He could really put the Defense on another level. I really am shocked how well the Defense has played so far. They seem better than last year, which is hard to believe given the people we lost, like Harris, Keane and Horton. Brock really had stocked up some talent. Let's not forget how young this entire team is. We only lose two starters after this year.

I'll guess I'm not the only poster on this board who knows about Lambert's, Home of the Throwed Rolls, but will remind any potential travelers that Springfield is home to a place where you can get enough food in o
ne sitting to hold you for many nights of drinking.

Truer words have never been spoken Madbird. Great post.

I thought the same thing. No need to test it. We have Birch and Kielbasa who can pick up some carries when needed.

Why do you announce an injury b4 game time? Why give that information to your opponent?

good point .. Spack usually avoids this for good reason. Might be wanting to clarify why Birch will see more reps and Smith will see less or no reps ?

Maybe Spack feels so confident with his RB group, he'd rather clarify up front than allow speculation. Reporter could have seen it in practice and asked about it.

But agree ... college teams are not required to disclose like NFL .. why reveal it.

“We have a lot of backs,” ISU coach Brock Spack said. “We just move on to the next guy.”

Might also see true FR RB Brian "Cuts Like a Knife" Adams ... dude has some quicks .. will make for nice change of pace guy in backfield.

Article excerpt:

“We have a lot of backs,” ISU coach Brock Spack said. “We just move on to the next guy.”

That means Jordan Birch is promoted to No. 2 tailback behind James Robinson. Spack said true freshman tailback Brian Adams could see his first action of the season Saturday.

Love the new RS rule that will allow guys to play up to 4 games and still RS. Will help a ton in situations like this... it could backfire like the Clemson QB transferring after losing his spot after game 4... he can now RS this year, and transfer and play next year as a grad transfer... wonder if the NCAA thought about that when making the rule...

The new RS rule is any four games, right? Sounds like a good thing for the athlete, the university, and the NCAA.

Maybe you like the Chicago Bears or the Packers or the Steelers. Or maybe you like the SEC. Maybe you enjoy the D-III Johnnies of St. John's. Maybe you like to watch Normal Comm HS or Normal West or Bloomington HS or SHG or Lincoln-Way East. It's all good. Me? - I like Valley Football

This is correct - any 4 games.

Prob not needed, but considering the mentality of “next man up” everyone is expendable, I guess.

I hope Smith only get 4 or 5 carries (or less) this week just to keep him game ready and tuned up ... and that Birch gets closer to 8 or 10 carries. There is no reason to risk Smith's "tweaked" hammy this early in season. Smith is better, but Birch is more than good enough to help us win too .. need to think about 11 game season. Hamstrings are very very fickle things.

Plus we have some other RB named Robinson to pitch in too .. some of you may have heard about him ... :shhh: ... the point ... please save Smith for later in season !!!!!!
