It sems that we've grown overconfident, and have been exposed. What we thought would be problems during the off season have finally shown.

NAU is one of the worst teams in the country at stopping the run. Their opponents average over 5 yds per carry. We can't run the ball against them effectively.

We knew going in that our OL was a big concern. We were on the hunt for a lineman who could play immediately, but were unsuccessful. When we simply were playing teams not on our level, we looked pretty good. But now as we've moved into our conference games and against a reputable opponent it shows that we have big problems on the line.

We knew that we had needs at WR. We brought in a couple of transfers to help, but one wasn't eligible and the other hasn't shown much so far. Our receivers have not been able to consistently create separation from defenders or to catch the ball.

We're not a bad team, but we're not very good either. And if we don't play as hard as the other team, like tonight, it really shows.

I'm afraid this might be spot on.

I think we are far enough into the Kolbe regime to know he's probably not going to take us to the promised land. Should we be playing younger QBs to get ready for next year?

Guys, OL was the problem today

Plenty of blame to go around.

He had plenty of protection on the deep ball to an open Schnell and the awful miss to Petkovich with no defender in the vicinity of Flagstaff.

OL and run game has sputtered for 3 games now, Kolbe set personal records the first 2 of those 3 games. Our offensive problems are foundational with OL and play calling. That said Kolbe has had a bad day. But this offense has bigger problems than Kolbe's bad day today. Our RBs are struggling to get out of the backfield for 3 games now .. is that Kolbe's fault ?

Offensive Coordinators are just really bad. They have no clue. No imagination and no ability to adjust. Defensive staff got out coached too but they got no offensive support. Just a terrible performance. Kolbe was pretty bad tonight. He consistently under throws and behind his receivers, not just tonight but most of the season. Bad performance all around by the Redbirds tonight.

Hatfield...I would assume he has red-shirted, but I am sure he did not come here to sit the bench next year.

Not going to sit here and overreact to one loss, but I can say that I have been skeptical of our offense all along, even after going 4-0.

I think our defense is damn good, but our offense is lacking. I'm not going to kick Kolbe when he's down, but he has to play much better. The line has to play much better as well.

But to me, the issue is still not having a dynamic offensive weapon. I think Gibbs is the closest thing we have, but we need someone who is dangerous with the ball in their hands. I'd like to see if there's a way to get Henderson the ball more...possibly line him up as a receiver.

Bravo to NAU and the streaming of this game. Zero glitches. Very entertaining announcers that were the furthest from being homers. I enjoyed them reading the emails and tweets from ISU fans and having some fun. Seemed to know our team fairly well. Called us Western Illinois one time, but I would take that as a compliment tonight!

SD, YSU, SDSU, WIU, and NDSU might average 30+ points on our defense. That is not an exaggeration.
