NAU is one of the worst teams in the country at stopping the run. Their opponents average over 5 yds per carry. We can't run the ball against them effectively.
We knew going in that our OL was a big concern. We were on the hunt for a lineman who could play immediately, but were unsuccessful. When we simply were playing teams not on our level, we looked pretty good. But now as we've moved into our conference games and against a reputable opponent it shows that we have big problems on the line.
We knew that we had needs at WR. We brought in a couple of transfers to help, but one wasn't eligible and the other hasn't shown much so far. Our receivers have not been able to consistently create separation from defenders or to catch the ball.
We're not a bad team, but we're not very good either. And if we don't play as hard as the other team, like tonight, it really shows.
I'm afraid this might be spot on.
