Thanks for link. Odd that ISU football has a pinned tweet which looks more like the promotion of NDSU football than ISU football.

Isn't this kind of like opening gifts on Xmas morning that have been sitting under the tree for 2 months ... UNWRAPPED already!!!!!

Kind of anti climatic right ?

In any case ... a hearty welcome to everyone ...you chose well and we're glad to have you ... now be ready to work !!!

Sort of, except there's that unfortunate circumstance of somebody stealing your present, and ending up at FBS somewhere either with a schollie or preferred walk-on. Waiting for disappointment, the box was empty! Hopefully, not an issue this year.

I hate it when someone steals my Christmas gifts and takes it to an FBS school.

Except there are still surprises. I didn't know we had a player coming from New Jersey. Nice also to see us giving some love to the walk-ons.

Yup. When you look at the # of signees in this class you know that there are partial scholarships or maybe even walk-ons. We know from recent experience how hard it is to predict who will develop so I'm more than ok with this. Go ahead and cast of wide net that includes players that fit the general outline of what you are looking for and then let them sort themselves out over the next 2-3 years.

I was thinking this is almost twice as many signees as we had last year, at least 50% more. Don't really get how we can get them here, even with partial schollie - you'd think there are other places to go.

Drew Carey has a son that signed to play for the Redbirds - who knew?

Peoria Journal Star reporting http://www.pjstar.com/sports/20180207/coran-taylor-charlie-mangieri-sign-to-play-big-ten-football that Bennyhoff picked our walkon offer over an Iowa walkon offer. He was pretty good last season. Also a former Bird recruit/commit out of high school that went the juco route ended up landing at WIU - Lacale London.

We lose anyone from the early signing period? At all?

The players that signed early are just as committed to the program as those that signed today. If players that signed early wanted out they would have to ask for their release.

If you're asking if we had any players that verbally committed that didn't sign (early or now) I think we had two.

OL Bobby Lawrence got an offer from Missouri and he signed there.

TE Nate Dirkes doesn't appear to have signed anywhere.

Brock said last night that we are close to signing a contract to play U of I. I asked if they would come here to play. He said he didn't care where we played them. But it looks like it is on! We will have more people in their stands than they will.
