The "big boys" don't want the selection process to be changed; they have worked too hard for too long to structure it to their advantage. It has been said before by others that the NCAA office is unlikely to do anything to significantly address the issue for fear the power conferences will somehow try to bolt, host their own post-season tournament, and take the lion's share of the television contracts and money with them. People like Bilas would likely lament such a move at first, then ultimately defend it and blame the NCAA for "bringing it on themselves." He likes to do that kind of thing: toss out a quote or two early in the process to make it seem like he is giving the "mid-majors" their due and being even-handed in how he is analyzing a situation, then ultimately come down on the side of the power conferences' position.
