Just listened to the postgame interview. Dick and Matty asked Madison about jumping over Obi Church. Anyone know when that happened?

I believe it was in the second half, Church shot faked and Madison jumped up to block it and managed to jump over Church without fouling him, and then someone came in right behind him and fouled him. The announcers remarked on it as well.

MY is the guy who fouled . It was when MY picked up his 3rd foul early in the second half

Thank you. I couldn't remember who committed the foul afterwards, I was too surprised that Madison made it cleanly over him.

It's like we have a lot of young guys who have never played D1 basketball before or played together much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I admit you were right about this and I was wrong. You saw the big picture and I was only looking at it from the perspective of two bad losses.

We made adjustments, played better defense, and are starting to look like a good basketball team. Glad you knew what you were talking about.

I'll still argue Hein plays too much (granted if he played like last night more often I'd have less of an argument), but other than that my bad.

I wasn't aiming it at any one person. There was a lot of gnashing of teeth around here during a bad stretch. I think expectations were way too high overall for a group that has 4 new starters and counting on minutes from 3 freshman, a transfer who sat out last season and a sophomore who played like 4 minutes last season.

Even MVC level D1 basketball is a big step up from high school.

I'm still expecting up and down. Just hoping we're on an upswing come StL...

So, not that I want to get gears rolling, because I don't, but ISU's RPI went up an astonishing 23 spots since last night.

ISU now at 85- Second in the Valley to Loyola's 51.

Also, shout out to Bradley and the Wardler! Bradley sitting at 86 with a 16-7 Record.

I know we are supposed to hate them, but I was getting SO SICK of the War on 74 being a squash game that benefits NOBODY.

Now it looks like the next installment of this will be 2 Top 80 teams. I'm down for that WAY more than a top 50 team vs a bottom 50 team.

Jan 31, 2018
• After beating Missouri St 76-60 yesterday, Illinois St. is now projected to finish the regular season 15-15 (9-9 MVC).
• The odds that the Redbirds make the NCAA tournament are up to 7%, an increase of 2% since yesterday.
• We currently rank Illinois St. as the #151 team in the country, and the #6 team in the MVC.

Bracketology Projections
Make NCAA Tournament 7%
Get Automatic NCAA Bid 7%
Projected Seed (if Selected) 13
• Illinois St. almost certainly won't get an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, so they need to earn an automatic bid by winning the MVC tournament.
• As for an automatic bid ... Illinois St. has a 7% chance to win the conference tournament. They probably won't win, but there's an outside chance

Projected Final Record
15-15
(9-9 MVC)
• The more precise final record expectation for Illinois St. is 15.4 wins and 14.6 losses, slightly better than the rounded projection above.
• Based on our projections, the Redbirds will most likely finish the regular season with a record between 17-13 and 14-16.

Get MVC #1 Seed 1%
Projected Seed 3
Win MVC Tournament 7%

• The odds for Illinois St. to earn the #1 seed in the MVC tournament are up 1% since yesterday.

What a pathetic league the micro valley coop has become.....going to be play-in status soon. Well sense the reduction of seats in RBA and no one going to games, move the BB program only to d-II. Could get D-1 players to transfer in and play w/o sitting out a year....problem solved about players leaving in hordes every season. 4 or 5 after the loss in the opening round in St Louis.

Once again the math for the projection does not work...

We are 6-5 in the MVC and predicted to win 4 more games, yet we are predicted to finish 9-9.

Best win I’ve watched in the last 10 years. Go birds!!!

HUH???

Beating a depleted MSU with a coach who has to be the worst in the Valley (what's the "WAR" for Lusk as a coach?) and THIS is the best win you have watched in the last 10 years?

That projector gives us a 36% chance of winning at Valpo? I don't buy it. I'm considering coming down for that. It is only 50 minutes from my house.

I can see the birds finishing 11-7 or even 12-6, to be honest. 12-6 would probably get you at least a share of the regular season crown. It MIGHT come down to the last game @ Loyola for that. Bradley and Loyola are suddenly the most important games of the season for us.

He must not have seen the ISU / Maryland Eastern Shore game back in 1968 barnburner that ended 55-42.
